Citricel--supposed To Be Safe?

I decided to take citricel to try to regulate my system, and for a day and a half, I've had serious GI symptoms and a terrible headache last night. I don't know of any gluten I could have gotten, but can citricel cause this?

thanks.

I take Citrucel caplets and I have never had a problem with them.

the citrucel could possibly cause you gi symptoms------i get gas and bloating and gas pains sometimes when i take those kind of things----and i don't have celiac.

At this point my suggestion is to read the label of the Citrucel you purchased to make sure that they did not change the ingredients on us like Fibersure did last year.

You can substitute a couple of tablespoons of ground flax meal in place of any packaged fiber product.

Stir the ground flax into some juice and drink/chew, then follow through with a glass of water. The first 2 or 3 days you might have some gas or other mild symptoms, but that goes away and then everything works out fine from there. You never have to worry about ingredients that way, especially if you buy your own whole flax seeds and grind them in a coffee grinder (keep ground flax meal in the refrigerator or freezer).

Any "fiber" products, even gluten free, have made me miserable. The flax is good stuff.

i have a question about fiber......my son is 3 years old and used to take benefiber til they changed the formulation. <_< i now give him psyllium but it is a pain to get him to take it. it's too thick and gritty and he is a fusspot. "mama, you wrecked my juice!" soooo, is fibersure safe for wheat/gluten sensitive people? the label says inulin from chicory root. i though inulin was a questionable thing.

he needs the fiber as he was moderately constipated over the fall. being constipated aggravates his reflux, yada yada yada. and he is really difficult about eating his fruits and veggies. he is wheat free/gluten free, soy free, and corn free. limited dairy in yogurt and goat cheese.

i don't think i can get him to take flaxmeal.

thanks for any insights.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
