First, you will have to tell us what the reference ranges are. All labs have different standards. I know that Enterolab - anything OVER 10 is positive.

With the lab we went through, each portion of the test has a different reference range. Example.... the ref range for IgG was <11 for a negative result. (mine was 69)

I'm also not seeing a tTg or an Total Syrum IgA for your results. Do you have those numbers??

all i know is the igg panel and iga panel under 11 was considered normal

i have nothing else for the other panel that was done

and the other ones they werent done just the two panels

the gliadin panel, and the endomysical panel were the only two test run

and the retiuline iga thats all the ran is that not the full panel?

tTG-IgA or tissue transglutaminase-IgA

AGA-IgG or Antigliadin IgG

AGA-IgA or Antigliadin IGA

Total IGA

This is a full Celiac panel - so it looks as if your doctor didn't run ALL the necessary tests.

Though, the numbers presented there do indicate a negative blood test. However, without a total syrum IgA - it's not known whether or not your child is IgA deficient. And, if he is.... the numbers you have there don't mean very much.

I'm sure that someone will have a better explanation, but to me - it does look like they missed something.

I don't think the Anti Reticulin screen is done much anymore, as it's not as specific as the others.

I'm crossing fingers that others will read and respond. I wish I could help you further. I'm still kind of "new" at this. And the lab tests confuse me. Especially when it seems that they aren't too accurate to begin with. =(

Thanks, that's a great addition that I hadn't thought of.

Other diseases, medical conditions, medications and even (for some people) some non-gluten foods can cause villous atrophy. There is also something called refractory celiac disease but it is pretty uncommon.

knitty kitty asks a very relevant question. So many people make the mistake of experimenting with the gluten free diet or even a reduced gluten diet soon before getting formally tested.

Another great fiber option is dried apricots. Four of them give you 3g of fiber and I find they don't produce all the gas that some other high fiber options do. They taste good too. Costco sells a large bag of them that are labeled gluten-free so you don't have to worry about cross contamination issues like you might in bulk grocery settings.

Wow, that's alot of info, Thanks!!!! I had my intake with Nutrionist where we went over basics and then will have follow up where we will talk about all the questions I've come up with (including the fiber question and so many more). I'll talk to her about the info you provided as well.  Thanks again (newbie here 😀)
