Has anyone had any experience with gluten free eating on Snowmass mountain? I have been trying to contact the food service there and have not had much luck getting anyone who can respond.

Linda,

We are going to snowmass at the end of March and I am looking for information too. i haven't had a lot of luck either. Please let me know if you find out. Both of my children and myself are gluten-free.

Hi,

I wasn't gluten-free when I went, but I remember having trouble with the food issue anyway. The one thing I can say is there was this ski-up restaurant & bar - you could literally ski down the low slope & walk right into the bar area outside - you could go into the front door too (I can't remember the name). Anyway, they had awesome chicken wings free with a happy hour pitcher or whatever.

I remember food was hard to come by - mostly restaurants, sandwich/salad place, bar & grill, pizza place. We packed a bit of food - we stayed for a week.

There was no grocery store or anything like it (as far as we knew) - maybe you'll have more luck in the food department than I did.

We had lots of fun, though ... hope you guys do too. The elevation and dry, cold atmosphere really killed us though - we were glad we brought the ibuprofen & hot tea.

Hi there, I just read your posting and we just got home from Vail last Sunday, I was worried about eating the cafe foods as well........ what I did is wore a fanny pack and took Dinty Moore beef stew (their a little salty, but for 3 days it worked) and popped it in the mico wave, if there's no microwave out for you to use, you could ask the staff (I had to do that at 1 restaurant on the mountain), I also put an apple in my jacket pocket and put the individual carmel dipping in my fanny pack. One day I took an individual peanut butter I found at Jewel, I think it's Jiff. It got me through the ski day. Hope this info. helps.

Pam

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
