Everything Happens For A Reason

Tonight John and I were standing here debating whether or not to go to the ice cream stand. The weather in PA has finally gotten nice and spring is here. We ended up going and came home about 8. The sun was going down. As we walked up our courtyard a young Indian girl walked off her stoop and asked me if we had a mobile phone. I didn't but I brought out my portable phone to her. She explained she had just moved in on Saturday and she was trying to reach her husband who was supposed to be a home at 6. She couldn't reach him, she thanked me for the phone and I went into our house and she went back to her house. A few minutes later our doorbell rang. There girl was there again, this time she was really upset. She says to me I locked the keys in the house, what do I do now. She was crying a bit and she kept telling me she was scared. So I showed her how to call the rental office. So not only did this girl just move in, she just came to America on Saturday. This was why she was so upset, and she didn't know what to do. Her husband has been here and working for awhile and now she came to live with him. He eventually came home too. He had been caught up at work and traffic was bad too. He kept telling her everything was ok, but you could tell she was still upset. They were nice. He told me that we were the first people they had seen since they moved in. Our courtyard is very quiet.

So, once everything calmed down and they got back into their house, I came in and sat down and thought about this. This had to be scary for her, it is almost dark, in a new country, you know no one, what do you do? What if John and I had kept walking, and just brushed her aside?

If we didn't go to the ice cream stand we would have never met our new neighbors. Even if they were the best circumstances to meet people in. I was the first American she met.

You should ask her what state she is from (India has states, too). It's good that you were kind to her.

I'm so glad that you were able to help her, Amanda! I agree, that must be very unnerving to be so new to the country and not know anyone! I know how lost I felt when I moved from FL to MN with DH and knew noone. I can't imagine moving to another country.

My neighbors are from India too. They are very kind people. Maybe this will be the start of a nice friendship for you!

That is a really sweet story. And it just shows how just doing the smallest thing can make such a difference. You thought nothing of letting her borrow your phone but it was such a big thing for her. Like Cheri said, maybe the start of a great friendship.

I am glad you were there for her. Maybe its a start of a nice friendship. Neighbors make the best of friends( i know i had the best neighbor).

I have always felt the same as your mom, that everything happens for a reason.

I hope we do get to know each more. We live in an apartment complex but it looks like townhouses. There are 8 apartments in each setting 4 upstairs and 4 downstairs, they are arranged in a horeshoe around a common courtyard. Our neighbors are all very nice. I hope they feel at home in the new community.

When we moved there, we had moved from a bad situation at a different complex. I love children, but where we used to live the children ran free and did what they wanted too....climbed over cars and left toys all over the place. We don't sit outside and visit with neighbors but they are always friendly and respectful and always will help.

Of all people to have met first, she was lucky to meet someone as caring as you!

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
