I was strolling the grocery outlet (the one with the rainbow) while on vacation at the beach yesterday. I passed the freezer section, they have amy's dinners!! Rice lasagna!! then today, out of curiosity I went to the one in Salem, they have them too!! This one also had mac n cheese and penne bowls. All gluten-free!! And the best part? They were between $1.50 and $2.00!! I bought them out. I asked the checker, and he said that the guy who orders for the store can order them as long as there is a demand... This MIGHT be the case for all grocery outlets, so go check!! I'm eating one right now!

Yay! I hope you find them. My freezer is bursting at the seams!! I usually don't eat prepackaged food. But this is a good back-up. Mmm yum. I haven't had mac n cheese for 10 months. Until today. Amazing. Yay!

For those of you in Oregon and Washington--Fred Meyer usually has the mac&cheese, and Amy's bowls (shepards pie, teryaki chicken, enchilada etc) in their health food area freezer section. I also HIGHLY recommend Lingonberries in Vancouver, (east of SR 500) The entire store is gluten-free and they have everything you can possibly imagine--including gluten-free grown and processed oats for those who want to add them back into their diet. It is owned by a nutritionist and her husband (she has celiac). They are a great resouce. For those who have kids, we are always looking for new members for our ROCK group!!! I do my regular shopping at freddies. But the amy's stuff is super expensive!! Portland is 90 min away. I refuse to drive 90 min for food!! Salem has Lifesource, it's a little store, but they have some specialty gluten-free stuff. Freddies has a ton of stuff, but $1.50 for gluten-free mac n cheese, you can't beat that!!

Oh and the woman who owns lingonberries isn't celiac, she just follows the diet. I met her at the Salem support group meting. That's what she told me anyway, maybe something changed.

I agree, pretty much all of the specialty food is super expensive. I will stock up on certain items when they are on sale-our Wild Oat's has pretty good sales, but for the most part, I alter regular recipes, batch cook and freeze in small containers for my daughter. If you're looking for a good mac&cheese, the Better Homes and Gardens recipe is what I modify. If you want the recipe, I can write down what I do... I was mistaken about Dee. She is a registered dietician who LIVES gluten free, but specializes in diabetes and celiac disease. She was at our home not too long ago and was telling me about certain foods that make her sick, I just assumed....

Just bought the mac n cheese and penne bowls for 1.50 each. Im taking some to my moms house so I will always have something to eat that I know is safe. Thanks again for the heads up on this!

my daughter loves mac & cheese. I usually just buy the Tinkyada elbows (follow cooking directions - boil water and add a little salt and add pasta. cook for 15 minutes (do not overcook, otherwise it gets mushy -- rinse the pasta under cold water) I add american cheese and milk. She's happy with that.

      Is there a digestive enzyme that helps build a healthier gut? I see people taking them but not sure what really works

      So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped".       hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood t...

      Thoughts? Non-endoscopic Celiac diagnosis in two year old

      Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong. yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

      So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352
