so recently 3 things have happend. I seem to be internaly brused or inflamed on my left side. like in the middle of my left rib on the side. there is a small spot that hurts to tuch also on my lower left side sort of next to where the hip bone is its incredibly sore to tuch (possibly liver?) the rib soreness has been around for about 5 days but this new pain on the lower section started today along with what appears to be incredibly green bowl movements. i looked that up and it says its a sign that either a. your stomich is going to fast or B. you ate food that colord it green. i was looking at my food jurnal and nothing new has been introduced that could cause a problem besides for i guess almonds. and then i have been drinking 1 small blue slurpee a day.. that i guess could be the possible cause but i really dont think so. I do want to note though that i have been in fairly good health for the past few months and so this is really out of the blue for me. one thing that has changed is in the past month i have been drinking alot (please no lectures) I have already desided to stop for a long while to see if that could be the possible cause of all of the above since it was to the point of where the maximum days going without drinking was 2.. could alchohal cause all 3 of these problems? or do i possibly have a worse health consern that may not be self induced (aka go see a doctor and waist my money some more?)

The symptoms you describe in conjunction with your alcohol abuse could indicate some serious health problems such as gastritis, pancriatitis, cirrhosis, or gal baldder disease. IBS is also possible. I suggest you see a doctor.

Hi Lister, If this does not resolve soon you should see your doctor, much as I know you don't want to. Do you have any fever? That would be an indication to call the doctor today. As to the green bowel movements the coloring from the slurpy could very well contribute to that, licorice will also turn the stool green but if you are still gluten-free that would be out cause there are none I have found that do not have wheat. Your discomfort could also very well be due to the excess alcohol you are consuming, that would be the first thing I would drop. It is hard on the pancreas, liver (which by the way is NOT in the location of your hipbone) and the entire system. I am glad you have been feeling better lately and hope this resolves for you soon.

yeah well so far i know i have gastritis,"ibs" and also possible celiac disease (cant get a 100% dx because i have been on the diet to long) raven nope no feaver. just the really 2 really sore spots and the incredibly fast moving bms. i say that because even if they are not green for the past two days itsl ike i eat and 5-10 min later im already ready to use the restroom. also after eating i have discomfurst in my left side for like 30-40 min just dull pain.

Lister, something that I recently discovered that was causing my bowel problems, which are much as you describe minus the effects of the blue slurpees, is an overgrowth of BAD bacteria, and no good bacteria. I'm taking massive probiotics (Ultra Flora, Theralac, and VSL#3, all available online). Also oil of oregano and Uva Ursi to get this problem under control.

It will be a long term process because it took a long time to get this out of balance.

None of the products I mentioned will hurt you, so you might try it for a couple weeks and see if it helps before you spend more on a doctor since your medical budget is so limited.

My guess, like everyone else, is that the alcohol contributed.

Lister have you ever had a colonoscopic exam? You may have said but my addled brain would not remember. If so did they find diverticuli ? The location and description of things could be related to that especially if it has been previously found. With full blown diverticulitis, an inflammation of the diverticuli you would be running a fever and extremely ill but if you consume nuts that could cause a 'flare'. I mentioned it in part because you had referred to recent injestion of almonds as something kind of new. These also would be visible, I believe (at least they were for me but mine are extensive), with barium Xray of the large intestine and/or CT scan if you have had either of those.

good guess raven u should acually look into possibly being a doctor or something. diverticuli was the first thing last year that my doctor thought i had. when i was first really really sick besides for beeing super sick my left side was incredibly inflamed so he instantly thought gadiverticuli took some x-rays and could see that i had a blockage in my intestine. sent me on my way and told me to avoid sertain foods 2 weeks later though it got worse and i had to go to the E.R because of bleeding. i told them i had gadiverticuosis and they asked how i knew that i told them from a x-ray they looked at me like i was stupid and told me that a regular x-ray would not tell me that. so i had a catscan that day and it showed nothing abnormal and the blockage itself was gone also. then 2 weeks later my doc orderd me to get the barilum x-ray panel went and did that and the only thing it showed was small damage to the "mucosul?" folds.. thats when they desided it could be possible that it was celiac disease and told me to try the diet. but then he kept me on the diet to long so we where never able to do a prober blood panel. I have not had a full colonoscopy but i did have a endoscopy that showed absolutly nothing abnormal (edit)- i ment stigmoidoscopy not endoscopy basiclly a smaller colonosocpy)

15 years of severe illness and a medical background and lots of time for research will do that to you. Sometimes I do wonder what might have been if my education had not be cut short by illness but that doesn't stop me from researching and learning. The damage you speak of to the mucosal folds is consistent with celiac, if fact it was what caused the diagnosis in my DD when she had her endo. The GI said her damage was not severe yet and the diet was needed to prevent her becoming like me.

Perhaps sometime in the future when your budget permits you could order the Enterolab testing if you still have doubts.

As to what you are experiencing now what you need to do is baby that gut no matter what is causing it, no alcohol and eat as bland and non reactive as you can. No sodas, or slurpys or candy and chips for a bit. If you haven't already delete dairy also. If you get worse or start to run a fever or get to the point where you are not holding anything in make sure you get yourself to the hospital or the doctor ASAP

so i have been babying my stomich now and its been like 4 or 5 days and still on the green side.. have no clue as to why but i know its not right. the pain in my lower left has pretty much left though it barely hurts at all to tuch now but the pain on my left side a lil under my armpit is still there not sure if i pulled a muscle or what but its definatly still very tender. not sure how many more days i should give it before i cave in and waist money at a doctor again.. i just hate going everytime I do it turns out its nothing or they can not figure it out so it really is just a waist of my money

I am on day 13 of eating gluten  and have decided to have the celiac panel done tomorrow instead of Wed. (and instead of extending it a few more weeks) because I am SO incredibly sick. I have almost no appetite and am not able to consume the required daily intake of calcium to try to keep up with the loss of calcium from the high parathyroid hormone and/or the renal calcium leak.    I have spent the past 15 years working hard to improve my health. I lost 50lbs, got off handfuls of medications, lowered my cholesterol to enviable levels, and in spite of having end stage osteoarthritis in both knees, with a good diet and keeping active I have NO pain in those joints- til now.  Almost all of my joints hurt now I feel like someone has repeatedly punched me all over my torso- even my ribs hurt- I have nausea, gas, bloating, headache, mood swings, irritability, horrid flatulence (afraid to leave the house or be in any enclosed spaces with other people- the smell would knock them off their feet) I was so sure that I wanted a firm diagnosis but now- I'm asking myself is THIS worth it? esp over the past 2 yrs I have been feeling better and better the more I adjusted my diet to exclude highly refined grains and processed foods. I didn't purposely avoid gluten, but it just happened that not eating gluten has made me feel better.   I don't know what I would have to gain by getting a definitive diagnosis. I think possibly the only advantage to a DX would be that I could insist on gluten-free foods in settings where I am unable to have access to foods of my choice (hospital, rehab, nursing home)  and maybe having a medical reason to see a dietician?   please let me know if it's reasonable to just go back to the way I was eating.  Actually I do plan to buy certified gluten-free oats as that is the only grain I consume (and really like) so there will be some minor tweaks I hope and pray that I heal quickly from any possible damage that may have been done from 13 days of eating gluten.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
