my husband said i should try an elimination diet, but kind of just want to be told what i can't eat and try and make everything else work.

what about candida? does that need testing for? i should just do more research, but i'm not in the mood right now. sorry :( hope someone can help.

Hey Sweetfudge - there are a couple of online quizzes you can take to see if candida is a problem for you, but I think if you start an elimination diet you'll be pretty much on an anti-candida diet as well (someone correct me if I'm wrong there).

I'm doing an elimination diet now, and it's helping me a LOT!! Doubt I would ever have realized that I have a problem with potatoes, of all things (and me, part Irish, sheesh).

Hoping after I'm fully healed, my intolerances will subside. Sigh.

BTW - looked at your profile... Horde or Alliance? ;)

70 Shadow Priest, for the Horde!!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
