Do Sky High Antibody Levels Mean Higher Risk?

Help! I left my doctors office today feeling a little lost. I was recently diagnosed and have sky-high endo antibody levels (over 2500) . I asked my GP if that meant that I had a higher chance of having significant damage? (I know my intestine is levelled but what about all the cancer risks that you read about) He was very honest and said he didn't know the answer ... I am just wondering if there is anything that I could/should be doing now to check and see what damage I have done.. What types of testing is commonly done post-diagnosis?? Any one else out there can relate? Its been about 6 weeks since I found out difinitively, and I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed..

The main thing you must do is commit to a 100% gluten free life because even a smidgen of gluten can do damage.

Your intestines will heal. My mom was finally diagnosed when she was truly near death from malnutrition....she weighed about 85 lbs at that time and the doctor said her intestines looked smooth as a billiard ball. She had a follow-up endoscopy about 6-8 months later and the villi were back and things looked pretty good. They warned her about the possibility of cancer, particularly stomach cancer. WELL......this all took place 40+ years ago....she's now 85 and healthy as can be, no sign of cancer ever!

So my best advice is take this seriously, you largely control the outcome. From this moment on be seriously gluten free! That's the part YOU control. By ensuring you are gluten free, you stop the inflammation process which could be a boon to cancer cells.

I'm not entirely sure of this, but the impression I've gotten from what I've read is that antibody levels have more to do with just how our different individual immune systems produce antibodies - some people produce more than others and they could still have the same level of damage. After all, some people have a completely flattened intestine and NO antibodies at all.

Anyway, if you keep 100% gluten free, your risk of intestinal cancer returns to the level of a healthy person as far as I know, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

      You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.

      Celiac disease requires both genetic potential and a triggering stress event to activate the genes. Otherwise it remains dormant and only a potential problem. So having the genetic potential is not deterministic for celiac disease. Many more people have the genes than actually develop the disease. But if you don't have the genes, the symptoms are likely being caused by something else.

      Yes, i pulled raw ancetry data and saw i have 2/3 markers for DQ2.2 but have heard from friends in genetics that this raw data can be wildly innacurate

      Thanks, I’m still dealing with the pain and tingling and itching and feeling like bugs or something crawling around on my face and scalp. It’s been a miserable experience. I saw my eye doc last week, the eye itself was okay, so they didn’t do anything. I did take a 7 day course of an antiviral. I’m hoping for a turnaround soon! My life is full of stress but I have been on / off the gluten free diet for the last year , after being talked into going back on gluten to have a biopsy, that looked okay. But I do have positive antibody levels that have been responsive  to a gluten free diet. I can’t help but wonder if the last year has caused all this.

      I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
