Bath Products

I know that with gluten, you have to watch what bath products you use. I've found many gluten free bath and body products but a lot of them contain soy and milk. It is especially hard to find a body wash that does not contain soy. Does anyone know if you have to be as careful with soy and casein when using these types of products?

Well, if you get irritated by soy or casein, I'd steer clear of them in everything. I break out in hives/rash whether I ingest soy, or put it on my skin. I've been using the Fiji organics, as there is no soy or gluten in them. I love their pineapple coconut lotion and soap! Open Original Shared Link

(I'd call them to make sure, but I believe they are all dairy free too, as they use coconut for everything.)

I don't know about casein. But one of my primary symptoms from ingesting soy is that my face breaks out. So I'm hardly likely to use the stuff on my body :o

If there are alternative products that don't contain anything I am sensitive to in food, I see no reason to chance it.

Thankyou very much for the replies. I really appreciate it. I do have skin problems and they are probably caused by the food intolerances. I'm hoping they'll start to clear up soon now that I'm not eating anything that is bad for me but it is hard to find bath products that are gluten-free, sf, and cf. Thanks for the link, Sugarmag. I'll definitely check it out.

Hathor, has your skin cleared up since you've been sf?

It's funny, because ingesting soy causes majoy skin problems for me, but I use Giovanni Organics shampoo, conditioner, leave-in hair treatment and hair spray...with no problems, and one of the ingredients in each of those items is soy protein.

Jason body wash is good...and I think it's soy-free.

Yes, it has. I've read that skin problems are associated with soy allergies or intolerances. I just cut it out, though, because Enterolab said I was intolerant. I thought, well, let's see what happens. I didn't expect the skin thing at all. (My reading came afterwards.)

If you google on "perioral dermititis" you will see pictures similar to what I had. I tried all sorts of things and nothing made it go away before. Eating low fat helped a little and cutting out fluoride dental products did too. But it was still noticeable. I felt it was hardly fair that I always looked like I had some acne since I was a teenager (I'm 54 now).

I wonder if it has something to do with the effect of soy on hormones?

Oh well, I'll take it, whatever the cause

Mango, that gives me hope that maybe I can use Caress body wash. I was using it with no problems but then I saw that it had soy in it so I stopped using it. However, the other ones I have tried, except for Ivory, make me itch. Its weird considering they are soy and gluten free.

Hathor, I googled that perioral dermatitis stuff and some of those pictures look like the stuff that I get sometimes. Its finally starting to go away though, thank goodness. And like you, I'll definitely take it going away for whatever reason.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
