We are traveling for the first time since my daughter's diagnosis. Are there any "safe" restaurants in the Dallas area?

Outback Steakhouse and Carraba's both have gluten-free menus. I have eaten at Outback one time with no problems.

I have never been there myself, but there is a completely gluten free restaurant in Plano, TX, just north of Dallas. I plan to try it the next time I go that way.

Delicious N Fit and Laura's Bistro

930 W. Parker #420

Plano, TX 75075

The website will give you directions and details. I hope you will be close enough to try it.

What part of Dallas are you visiting? There are actually a lot of options in the area. Some may require driving, depending on where you are staying.

I eat at Delicious n Fit in Plano a lot. She has really good desserts.

Chuy's is very good and I have had great dining experiences there.

I have never eaten at Kozy Kitchen, but it is next on my list

D&A Pizza is good, you must specify gluten free. The actual resturant is a little unorthadox, but good food.

Then there are the standard chains that offer Gluten free.

Let me know if you need any help.

Kat.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
