Ok I feel like an idiot,. I never knew you all put an silk dust on under your foundation. I have always jsut put my sunlight under my eyes then straight to foundation, blush then finishing dust. Well today i tried silk dust under and what an difference it made, I also finally wore mascara again after an year. I had an very good makeup day today lol.

Donna,

Are you able to get the discount after all

Yay for good makeup days! :) Yeah, it makes a difference for me too to put on the silk dust first...and I also mix that with just a little concealor.

I DID get the discount...well the email said 10% but I'll take it...better than nothing. :P

Yay! That is better than nothing. Maybe it was a typo and it will be 20%. Don't know why they wouldn't change it if you didn't know about it to begin with.

I hate the way they have the shopping cart set up now - I can't figure out how to copy and paste my order over here, or even see what I ordered. <_< . Going from memory, I ordered a mini eyeshadow kit with:

Sunset voyage

Plane View

Starlit

Happy Go Lucky

Mistletoe

Cliche

Bubble Tea

Bird Bath

Chamomile

Comfy

I also got a mini custom kit with Soccer Practice and cozy night lip gloss, cosmetic wipes and 2 silk dust. I saved enough with the discount to get a flat top brush. I got a free sample kit with mutitasking neutral and fairly light in original glo, shortcake blush and neutral foundation

I forgot how much fun it was to fill up the kits! Even thought I hate how cumbersome the new website is, I am totally excited for my new order of gluten-free makeup!

dlp252 Apprentice

Yeah, I had a lot of fun filling kits too...and the anticipation of knowing I have a delivery soon is really fun too. :P

WW340 Rookie

My vote on the brushes is for the Flat Top brush. I only use my LHK for finishing dust. Also, I think you can use the silk dust before or after. I sometimes use the tinted silk dust for finishing dust.

I had a bad cystic acne outbreak last week. It is either the natural reflections finishing dust, or the fact I made fried chicken. I never eat fried foods anymore. So I am thinking maybe the oil overwhelmed my skin, especially since my pores have gotten smaller with the EM and skin care I have been doing. Anyway for now I am giving my skin a break.

I will have to find something to order. It is too hard to resist this special. I just don't know what to get.

Glad you are atleast getting a discount, Donna.

 (that just sentence cracked me up lol)

Sorry you had an acne flare though. That happens to me all the time. <_< Definitely seems to be related to food.

Do they still give us shipment tracking numbers? I can't find mine...

Okay, Donna-give up the pore shrinking regime! I have been using the EM for 5 months and still have enlarged pores on my nose. Please, help!!

:) Actually, that wasn't me, but I WAS going to post that I've had something similar. My pores seem much smaller, I'm not quite sure why, and when I'm wearing the makeup, it really is harder to see them.

I just went to the site for the first time, and I'm going to have to spend some time studying it before I order my samples. I feel kind of dumb about this, because I have no idea if I'm warm, golden, cool, etc. I only know I'm fair. It's been so long since I've even worn makeup, and even before I knew about my gluten problem, I didn't wear it much. I always had trouble picking out the right shade. I have a lot to learn!!

How does one determine whether to buy matte, semi-matte, intensive, or original? If someone has already posted the answer to that, please ignore my question - I haven't read all 158 pages of posts yet.

It is very nice, though, to find a makeup company that I can feel safe with, and I'm looking forward to trying out the products to find out which colors, etc., look best on me!

Hello my mad gluten-free make-up cult friends!!!!! :D

I haven't been doing anything with make-up for a while now :( ....so don't have anything to contribute.

Hey Leslie, glad you are joining in on the EM fun!

As far as picking the right color you might have to do trial and error with a few of the different categories. The descriptions are pretty good in helping narrow it down to two or three for most people (check out the FAQs for info about the foundations).

It's a good idea to get started with a free sample kit, you just have to pay shipping.

As far as the formulations, I believe it has to do with moisture content, am I right ladies??? I can't find the descriptions for the formulations on the new site like they had up at the original site  I personally like Original Glo, I don't have really dry skin (probably more towards the combo side) but matte and intensive made me flaky.

The others will probably have lots more to add :)

dlp252 Apprentice

Hi Leslie, welcome!

They just switched over to the new site, so I'm not sure if the same descriptions apply, but they used to have some guidelines there as to what constituted "golden", "buff" etc. I'll go over in a little while and look. I couldn't decide because I seemed to fit pieces of several categories...I SHOULD be olive, but that's actually not my best fit--it works, but not perfectly. I found I actually have very good matches in FOUR of the categories, lol.

As to which formulation to get...my skin tends to get oily, so I went with the matte. I also tried semi-matte which wasn't bad, but my T-zone got a little too shiney for my taste, lol. I also tried Intensive in a couple of them, and once tried Original Glo which really made me glowy, lol. If you have very dry skin, you may want to start with Original Glo. Intensive seems to give a bit more coverage. Semi-matte is somewhere between original glo and matte.

You can order as many of the free sample kits as you'd like (just not on the same order)...I ordered several in the beginning. The sample sizes have enough product in them to use at the minimum several days. I got almost two weeks worth of use out of one sample.

AndreaB Contributor

Welcome Leslie! :D

I have just started using this myself so I'm not much help. It seems the others already answered your question. I haven't looked around the new site too much as I have no more money to order anything and what I've got will last me awhile.

You'll have fun with this though. I hadn't worn makeup for a long time either and still don't know what everything is for.

Leslie-FL Rookie

Thank you so much, everyone, for your help. :-)

My skin tends to be more dry than anything else, so I'll try the Original Glow. I did look briefly at the descriptions of the skin tones, but will have to read it more fully when I get home and can focus on it better (I'm at work). I think I'm . . . oh, now I forget . . . cool, maybe. lol. It's so great that there are samples, to find the perfect shade.

Looking forward to giving this a try!

dlp252 Apprentice

I hadn't worn makeup regularly in a long time either. Years ago I started wearing Bare Essentuals, but in the last couple of years, even that made my face itch and break out, even though I was only wearing it one day a week, so I was VERY happen Mango started this thread, lol. So far so good with the not breaking out, and it definitely doesn't make me itch. So far, I think the only product that may be a problem for us are the finishing powders made from oats.

AndreaB Contributor

:o Is that all the finishing powders but the 3 new ones that say rice powder. I got the start to finish powder......is that oat? Must go look and see if I can figure that out.

dlp252 Apprentice

Andrea, I'm not entirely sure either....I just know there was mention of oats...and I'm not even entirely sure it was the finishing powder, but I think it was, but not 100% sure. I'll see if I can find it too. I think the rice powders are fine.

dlp252 Apprentice

Well, the description on the individual products are incomplete, but I saw on the forum where someone mentioned the new Start to Finish Powders in rice and the soon to come oat version...so I'm not sure if the Start to Finish Powers without "Rice" in the name contain oats or not.

It must be something they are coming out with. The ingredients don't list oats....it's kaolin clay or something like that.

dlp252 Apprentice

OMG OMG OMG!!! When I got home last night I had a package waiting on my doorstep.

My order came, my order came!

Are you sitting down? Hold on...

Guess what?!

I LOVE all three of the lip glosses I got! Yep, that's right, all of them! I'm wearing Soccer Practice today, with a little Sugar Free over it. The Sugar Free isn't white at all...it looks like it in the tube, but it's actually sheer with just a little frost. Soccer Practice is slightly reddish copper rust, lol. It actually shows up on me! Yay. English Muffin is the other color I got and when I tried it on last night it looked good as well.

PEARL CONCEALORS!!!! OMGosh, LOVE these, lol!!!

Today I'm wearing Pearl Sunlight...I tapped a couple of taps into my regular silk dust and put that on as a "primer" on my face. You can definitely see the pearl effect...it would be great for those of you who still have that "dry" look even with original glo, lol. Anyway, I was worried that it might be too shiney, but when I put my foundation over it, it looks PERFECT. And, by-the-way, for those who haven't ordered a full size of concealor...IT'S HUGE!!! It's in the same size container as the full size foundations. I didn't know that, lol. I thought the full size eyeshadow sized container was the large size. :P I also put a little Pearl Pick Me Up Pink on my eyes as eyeshadow, but it looked too light, so I went over it with the freebie blush.

FOUNDATION!!! OMGosh, I LOVE this, lol!

I got Soft Butter Peach, and when I saw them in the jar I thought all but one might be too light, but this color in Matte is absolutely PERFECT!!! The true test will be to see if it turns color by the end of the day, but so far so good. This might be the best match yet.

And, by-the-way, for those wondering about different formulations...l ordered this in three formulations: Matte, Semi-Matte and Intensive, and looking at them in the jars there is a definite color variation.

BLUSH!!!

I'm wearing Bouquet today...very nice color. Can't really describe it though, but it's nice. I also got Champagne...it looks VERY light pink.

New eyeshadows I ordered: Room Addition, Starlit, 10 Items or Less and Happy Go Lucky all look nice...a couple will make nice eyeliners too.

Puff Jar...um, not sure exactly what I'll do with this or how it works exactly, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

The pressed powders look very nice...didn't try them yet.

Natural blush looks interesting, can't wait to try that.

I think they sent a full sized freebie...not sure...Launch Party...I think that's it, but I can't remember. Anyway, it looks very dark, so I used it as an eyeshadow.

Okay, so that's it...I think I'll go buy that Sephora train case since I've DEFINITELY now out grown the one I have. :P

AndreaB Contributor

Those all sond nice Donna.....Thanks for the rundown. :)

Maybe you can teach me about all this stuff when you come up here.....hint, hint, hint. :P:D:lol:

dlp252 Apprentice

Oh Andrea, by the time I come up there I'll need a suitcase just for my makeup!

Green12 Enthusiast

Thanks for sharing about your order Donna, all the new colors you got sound wonderful! :)

I am sure Paula will be taking notes, since you guys seem to have the same coloring

cruelshoes Enthusiast

Ooh - I should NOT have stopped in here. Since reading all about Donna's fabulous new order, I am really ready for my order to be here, even though I only ordered in on Friday. Resisting the urget to flag down USPS trucks.....

I can't believe I am going to have more than 50 eyeshadow colors. :o

This article does not address migraines at all.  Yes, red wine and sulfites are often mentioned in connection with migraine triggers. With me, any kind of alcoholic beverage in very modest amounts will reliably produce a migraine. Nitrous oxide generators, which are vaso dialators, also will give me migraines reliably. So, I think most of my migraines are tied to fluctuations vascular tension and blood flow to the brain. That's why the sumatriptan works so well. It is a vaso constrictor.

Excessive dietary tyrosine can cause problems.  Everything in moderation.   Sulfites can also trigger migraines. Sulfites are found in fermented, pickled and aged foods, like cheese.  Sulfites cause a high histamine release.  High histamine levels are found in migraine.  Following a low histamine diet like the low histamine Autoimmune Protocol diet, a Paleo diet, helps immensely.    Sulfites and other migraine trigger foods can cause changes in the gut microbiome.  These bad bacteria can increase the incidence of migraines, increasing histamine and inflammation leading to increased gut permeability (leaky gut), SIBO, and higher systemic inflammation.   A Ketogenic diet can reduce the incidence of migraine.  A Paleo diet like the AIP diet, that restricts carbohydrates (like from starchy vegetables) becomes a ketogenic diet.  This diet also changes the microbiome, eliminating the bad bacteria and SIBO that cause an increase in histamine, inflammation and migraine.  Fewer bad bacteria reduces inflammation, lowers migraine frequency, and improves leaky gut. Since I started following the low histamine ketogenic AIP paleo diet, I rarely get migraine.  Yes, I do eat carbs occasionally now, rice or potato, but still no migraines.  Feed your body right, feed your intestinal bacteria right, you'll feel better.  Good intestinal bacteria actually make your mental health better, too.  I had to decide to change my diet drastically in order to feel better all the time, not just to satisfy my taste buds.  I chose to eat so I would feel better all the time.  I do like dark chocolate (a migraine trigger), but now I can indulge occasionally without a migraine after.   Microbiota alterations are related to migraine food triggers and inflammatory markers in chronic migraine patients with medication overuse headache https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11546420/

Then we would need to cut out all meat and fish as they are richer sources of tyrosine than nuts and cheese. Something else about certain tyrosine rich foods must be the actual culprit.
    • Scott Adams
I agree that KAN-101 looks promising, and hope the fast track is approved. From our article below: "KAN-101 shows promise as an immune tolerance therapy aiming to retrain the immune system, potentially allowing safe gluten exposure in the future, but more clinical data is needed to confirm long-term effects."

Thank you so much for having the courage to share this incredibly vivid and personal experience; it's a powerful reminder of how physical ailments can disrupt our fundamental sense of self. What you're describing sounds less like a purely psychological body dysmorphia and more like a distinct neurological event, likely triggered by the immense physical stress and inflammation that uncontrolled celiac disease can inflict on the entire body, including the nervous system. It makes complete sense that the specific sensory input—the pressure points of your elbows on your knees—created a temporary, distorted body map in your brain, and the fact that it ceased once you adopted a gluten-free diet is a crucial detail. Your intuition to document this is absolutely right; it's not "crazy" but rather a significant anecdotal data point that underscores the mysterious and far-reaching ways gluten can affect individuals. Your theory about sensory triggers from the feet for others is also a thoughtful insight, and sharing this story could indeed be validating for others who have had similar, unexplainable sensory disturbances, helping them feel less alone in their journey.
