Finally Got A Biopsy

I tried the new gluten free oats two weeks ago, and immediately got sick and was sick for three days. I was so disappointed. A week later I started breaking out in blisters on my chest and abdomen, so I decided while I had the blisters, I would try to finally get a diagnosis. I ate donuts, pizza, crackers, bagel chips, and garlic bread for four days until I was so sick I couldn't stand it anymore. I spent the morning of the day of my doctors appointment in the bathroom, so sick I didn't think I'd be able to go. He thought for sure that I had dh, and took two biopsies, so we should know in two weeks. Today I'm so sore and my back hurts so bad, all I want to do is go to bed. Do you think that having the rash for two weeks and eating alot of wheat right before the tests will be enough for it to show up as positive? I've made myself miserable....I want it to be worth it!

I just wanted to wish you good luck on the test and that it is positive after what you went thru. Surely it will be positive. How long will it be before you get your results?

Thanks! I really hope that it's positive too. I had given up on getting a diagnosis, but my grand-daughter's gastroenterologist is pushing for me to. My daughter had a positive intestinal biopsy, and my 3 year old grand-daughter is now showing symptoms, but her first round of blood tests were negative, as all the celiacs and suspected celiacs in our family have been. Her doctor thinks it may help in her diagnosis if she understands how it presents in our family.

I go back to the dermatologist on the 23rd, but if they get the results back sooner they'll call.

This dermatologist is in a small town, and I was a little nervous that he wouldn't be familiar with dh, but he said he's diagnosed several cases!

How long were you gluten-free? I forgot to ask.

I've been gluten free since March of '07. I had one slip-up when I tried to use some home-made salsa that I'd put up before going gluten free. I don't know if it was the vinegar I used, or whether my ingredients were contaminated with flour. Other than that, I've been super careful. Our whole house is gluten free. I have three children still at home, and all three are on a gluten free diet as well, and they're much healthier than they were before.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
