Beware The Realtor Open House

Hi - didn't see a similar post, but I bet I'm not the first for this to happen to.

Yesterday our house was on 'broker open house' (just realtors tromp through) - our realtor also had a house down the block on open house. I didn't even think about this, but the realtor provided food for the brokers - and left us leftovers on a paper plate in the fridge covered with a napkin.

Leftover raspberry squares!!!

Well, my spouse ate them happily and tomorrow I'll be washing out the fridge with soap and water (we are eating away from home tonight, and had gluten-free takeout last night). At least they were on the bottom shelf (just 2 drawers beneath). Now I'm going to be paranoid about crumbs around the house for a week or two.

Yes I had mentioned in passing to the realtor that I am gluten-free, but never thought I needed to confirm what the open house protocol would be!

So funny you should mention this! Our home was for sale last summer, and our realtor also had a Broker's Open. He chose not to serve food because he always hated it when realtors would come, eat and hardly give the house he listed a second look.

I told him it was just fine with me, as I'm gluten-free and the thought of gluten-filled foods spread out on my table and being eaten all over the downstairs of my house would put me in a panic! :D

In the end, that open house didn't lead to a showing anyway--after 2 months on the market with zero showings, a couple walked in with a realtor who happened to live across the road and bought the house! Ya never know!

Best of luck with everything--and be sure to get all those crumbs :D

Really! :D

That never would have occurred to me, either! I guess part of the contract has to be "seller has severe food sensitivities and therefore thou shalt NOT bring food into this house for ANY reason" and make sure it is understood that the rule includes all realtors and prospective buyers!

Sheesh!

Better safe than sorry!

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
