I started gluten free diet yesterday. I just wondered if anyone who had abdominal pains can recommend anything to eat or drink that can help speed up the healing process for my digestive tract, intestines etc. Had pretty much constant pain at the mo since sunday night

The best advice I can give you is to keep your food simple. No processed foods, try to stay away from gluten free items like breads and crackers, all those things. Eat simply, rice, maybe a baked potato, chicken breast--very mild foods for a few weeks, maybe several weeks until you are feeling better. Your tummy needs time to feel better. Mild foods are easier to digest, more of a comfort food for your tummy. I never had a problem with dairy, so in the beginning, I ate cottage cheese with applesauce and I did very well.

Good luck.

i was kind of thinking more of over the counter type help or herbal remedies if anybody has any ideas

flax seed oil is really good for healing the gut, multivitamins will help you while you are still having trouble absorbing, other than that it is just a matter of sticking to gluten-free easy to digest foods.

You might be able to find some herbal teas that help with your symptoms (eg: nettle tea if you have constipation) just make sure that they are gluten-free as sometimes they have 'flavors' that are derived from wheat.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
