Disneyland Paris

I just want to share our experience at Disneyland Paris (DLP) with you.

We visited DLP for a week in april. As a normal procedure I contacted DLP to find out if we had to bring our own food or if they had some gluten free alternative for our 7 year old daughter.

A pdf file was sent to me that claimed that they had it covered. I browsed the net for gluten free diet and DLP, and realized that several families had bad experiences with DLP. So to make sure we brought some food, just in case.

After a 12 hour drive we checked in at New York hotel, and they also ensured that it was no problem. Our first task that night was to get some food before going to bed. Our daughter was offered 3 different meals, by a very helpful waiter, promising! But the menu was a prepared flight like meal, that tasted awful! Well bad luck we thought.

At the breakfast we asked for the gluten free alternative, and again a very helpful waiter, came with cakes and bread that felt like it was several years old. No Corn Flakes or other "real" alternatives. Luckily we had brought our own Corn Flakes and some bread!

This was pretty much the case the whole week. The restaurants only had this flight meals, and after a couple of tries we stopped because it was uneatable. And when we asked if our daughter could eat some of the "normal" food, they didn't seam to have the knowledge about what was actually in the food (even though we had a note in French explaining what she had to avoid).

So my advice is that are you going to DLP, bring your own food. Don't expect them to know anything!

They do such a wonderful job here in the States. What a shame that they do not have it together in Paris!

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.
