Hi all, I live in South Australia in metropolitan Adelaide. Can anyone suggest some Gluten free restaurants that are kid friendly? I have a 17 month old daughter that is gluten sensitive probably celiac. I also have a problem with gluten which is only a recent discovery. Thanks

I would suggest you contact the Coeliac Society of South Australia as they should be able to provide you with a list of gluten-free restaurants and any other advice you require.

Do you realise that a blood test for celiac disease will not be accurate if you have not been consuming enough gluten. For the blood test to be accurate you need to be eating the equivalent of 2-4 slices of bread a day for 4-6 weeks. It doesn't have to be bread but a high gluten food such as bread.

Thanks for that! does weetbix count I have started eating that for breakfast just to make sure! Do you need a dx to get info from them?

I joined the SA Society with a dx of Gluten Intolerance and a letter from my GP. They accept membership from dx Coeliacs, DH, and GI people. Once a member they have a shop where you get discounted food and grocery lines.

I have found Najjars , Nth Adelaide, and Parade Thai, Norwood to be gluten-free safe. DJ Foodhall have pie parcels and they can heat them for you. Have you seen this link ? Open Original Shared Link

And of course Kylies ! Open Original Shared Link Lots to choose there !

I was dx with Gluten Intolerance - no biopsy and a negative blood test but I had been eating Gluten light for years. I have just had a positive genetic test ( Gribbles ) and that show I have the gene which now tends to suggest I have Coeliac.

I received the results that my child has the genes for celiac disease (she is still undergoing testing and it has been complicated). Can someone explain if this is homozygous HLA DQ 2.5 or not? The interpretation just says permissive for celiac disease. Thank you! DQ Alpha 1  05:01, 5 DQ Beta 1 02:01, 02:01 DQ serologic equivalent 2,2

I am taking thiamine hydrochloride. It's been over a week, and the burning seems to be gone. I am also taking a lower dose B complex with iron. Thank you so much for your help!

No. It's over the counter. Readily available on Amazon. Good bio availability but shelf-life is not as good as thiamine mononitrate which is the most common form found in over the counter vitamin products.

Does one need to get a prescription for Thiamine Hydrochloride?

In general with pharmaceutical products cross-contamination is a much lower risk.
