I Am Totally Excited

I have got to share this...for all of us who bake in this forum; I think you can appreciate this sale I found!

I was in a discount/overstock department store shopping yesterday, and they had received a shipment of very high-end pots and pans.

I purchased 2 new square cake pans, 2 new bread loaf pans, one new baking sheet, and a food chopper all made by Cuisenart (sp?). I also purchased three new baking pans and a muffin pan made by Wilten "Elite." In addition, I found two large heavy-duty stove top pans. And I picked up a cheese shredder and one home decor item...my grand total with tax? $117.00! :o:P

I couldn't believe it. Just one of the Cuisanart pans had a pricetag of $40 from the original store!

I'm just so excited that I can throw out my warped, rusted, permanently stained, el cheapo, Wal-Mart stuff.

That's it. Just sharing my good bargain I stumbled upon.

Happy baking. -Jules B)

What a great deal :D

It is so neat to find such bargains when you enjoy baking.

Have fun!

I'm still so excited I can hardly stand it...

11 pots/pans and a food chopper made by Cuisanart/Wilton

A cheese/veggie Grater

and general "house decorating junk"

My total was under $100 before tax. The stuff was so heavy, I couldn't lift one of the bags...my hubby had to carry it to the car! :P

Talk about Christmas in July! You ladies are totally right. :D If you would have told me a few years ago when I was in college that I would be this excited over pots and pans...I would have laughed and said, "yeah, right. There's no way."

I've never owned anything this nice before...my hubby and I are on a fairly tight budget...so it's ALWAYS been the Wal-Mart cheapo stuff that warps so easily. Maybe my gluten-free cookies won't "run" down the pan into each other anymore! What a treat!

Happy 4th! Thanks for sharing in my excitement! -Julie

Don't you just love when that happens when out shopping, being in the right place at the right time and finding such great bargains!!

Very exciting Julie, enjoy all your new goodies :)

Congratulations! You done good - I'm impressed! B)

And here I was all excited about actually finding bake ware at WalMart that was Made in USA and not in China!

I like your find better!

imsohungry Collaborator

Yep Julie,

Being in the right place at the right time is the key...ironically, I wasn't even in there for cookware! I was looking for kitchen roosters for decorating! :P

Yeaaa Sandi...proudly made in the US of A! Don't get me wrong, Walmart does have some good dishes and cookware. But I've always purchased the "three baking pans for $6.00" kind of stuff...mainly because of our financial situation. I was just blessed to have $100 that I could spend...not that I usually have that kind of money laying around

My hubby was just glad to find out it wasn't $100 worth of kitchen roosters! :D;)

hugs. -Julie

Make sure you watch your Cuisinart stovetop pots & pans mine burned BAD on the bottoms everytime I cooked with them. I ended up frustrated and bought new Belgique ones. B):P

You can also get excellent quality pots & pans @ TJ Maxx or Ross

Be well Lovelies!

You'll enjoy using your new purchases. Having good equipment just makes the job easier.

Morning everyone!

Wonka- "Having good equipment just makes the job easier"- You are sooo right!

Since all of my old pans have warped, my food no longer cooks evenly...and soft baked things

"run" into one another!

Hello Collette darling-

As always, your wisdom is appreciated. B) I take what the cooking Goddess says

(that would be you Collette) :D very seriously!

Yep, I was in a Ross I think...there are several of those stores located near me. I get them

confused b/c they are in the same plaza. It's discount heaven!

Many hugs. -Julie

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study

BFree bread is fortified with vitamins and minerals as is ASDA own-brand gluten-free bread. All the M&S bread seems to be fortified also.

You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.

Celiac disease requires both genetic potential and a triggering stress event to activate the genes. Otherwise it remains dormant and only a potential problem. So having the genetic potential is not deterministic for celiac disease. Many more people have the genes than actually develop the disease. But if you don't have the genes, the symptoms are likely being caused by something else.

Yes, i pulled raw ancetry data and saw i have 2/3 markers for DQ2.2 but have heard from friends in genetics that this raw data can be wildly innacurate
