jknnej-QVC offers kits with their products so if you go to their site they have a whole thing for the bare escentuals brand. You can go to bareescentuals.com to learn more about their products. Also, you can look up kits on ebay but make sure they are new and sealed. I got some good deals from off of their. I love this brand.

Kaiti, Do you know if bare essentials has talc? I'm trying to avoid talc due to respiratory problems. Most of the foundation is powder, right? Thanks, LindaLee

Wet and wild lipsticks are gluten-free. I'm not sure about thier other products, but the lipstick is really cheap, between $1-$2.

I am sooo confused! I didn't know that I had to change my shampoo face make up and lotion! I use mostly maybelline products, do these contain gluten? And hoe does eye shadow get in your mouth? I use tresme shampoo and conditoner, and aussie hair spray. What about glossing polish for my hair? This is sooooo crazy! So life changing! Also what about victoria secret lip gloss? OmG!!!!!

I use the Bare Escentuals face powder and lipsticks but no not all of their products are gluten free because i was using the blemish cleanser and the acne powder for night time and I broke out terribly when I went to the store it had gluten in it. I have never had a reaction to the face powder or the lipsticks however. Also, yes I love Aveda products but was using their Botanical Kinetics and shampoo and conditioner and that is not gluten free as well as their lip glosses w/ the wand applicators are not But they are very nice and offer a exchange. I'm on the search for more gluten free products because even though I'm very strict with my diet I am still sick all the time and my skin reacts at any given time so I think I need to clear everything in my beauty cabinet that has gluten in it. Does anyone happen to know if Gold Bond lotion has gluten in it? I bought it a couple of weeks ago to clear up a dry rash I developed from a lotion with gluten in it (totally forgot to look at the label!) and it got rid of the rash but was concerned about the maybe having gluten? Thank you

I'm not at all sure why (as I believe that gluten itself isn't the primary cause of gluten intolerance, but the fact that it is incorrectly or only partly digested), but whenever I used a shampoo which contained wheat germ, I couldn't see properly for hours afterwards. Once I realized the shampoo might be the cause, I swapped to another brand, and have not had this problem since.

This must surely have been going into the eyes, as I had no other noticeable symptoms. I still wash my hair exactly the same way I've been doing it all my life. The only difference is now I avoid shampoos which contain wheat germ or any other gluten containing substance.

I need help figuring out the make up and shampoo question. I need cheaper stuff and hair care products for curly hard to contol hair. Right now I'm using Trsseme shampoo and conditioner, herbal essence mousse and cvs brand gel. As far as make up it's a mix of wet and wild concealer, cover girl pressed powder and a number of diffrent eye shadows. I don't use it daily but I can't seem to get rid of break outs.

Does anyone know about Lorac make-up? I have Lorac foundation/powder and was wondering if it was safe. i sure hope to, because it was not cheap :(

Also, what about Almay concealer and eye shadow?

Boots mascara?

Oil of Olay daily moisturizer and eye firming cream?

I also use Desert Essence facial pads, and i noticed it has grain alcohol in it, and i am assuming this is a no-no. Ironically, this is in the thing that worked last summer when I had the worst breakout. Anyone else use this?

Look at www.everydayminerals.com All of their products are gluten free. I've been using their products, and they are inexpensive and send a free sample pack for the cost of shipping ($3.50 or so) My skin has also completely cleared up since starting with this product and the gluten-free diet. Also, they don't use the bismuth that is in some mineral makeups that some people find itchy. They are in the process of changing their lipstick line, and don't carry mascara. I use Burt's Bees and Covergirl for those two products.

Ok, i answered one of my own questions...I contacted Lorac, and their oil free wet/dry powder is gluten-free!!

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I am Celiac and recently started using Sheer Cover. I read on the internet that it has gluten. I called the company today and got a young girl in customer service that read the ingredients to me of their foundation. The only suspect was Tocopherol acetate. Is that why they are saying it is glutinous? Thanks for any help. I love this make-up and don't want to quit using it unless I absolutely have to.

I'm sorry, I was wrong about the Loreal makeup. I had given my product list to my grandmother and I thought it said all products by Loreal are gluten-free. But I just looked at it this morning and it says all Lipsticks by Loreal are gluten-free. My bad... Althought the foundation I got looks fine, no gluten or hidden gluten oppertunities in it as far as I could tell ;)

Just called Loreal and they said all of their "wear infinite" eyeshadows were gluten free :)

I found this particular Arbonne site to be very helpful it has a whole list of Gulten free skin products, shampoos and all the makeup is Gulten free. The site owner is an aesthetician with 32 years in the field and is extremly helpful when asked any questions. Worth looking into. Hope this helps I have benn very pleased with the products.

Just wanted to post another gluten free makeup brand: Lancome.

Their makeup (Absolu and Renergie) and several lipsticks (Color Design, Le Rouge Absolu, Le Lipstick, Le Crayon Contour) are gluten free. They are very helpful if you email them also.

Many of their skin care products are NOT, however, gluten free.

I love the Color Design lipsticks -- they last forever.

Hi! I'm new to the site and being Gluten Free. I've been using morrocco method hair products for more than a year, even before my Celiac diagnosis and their hair products are wonderful and GLUTEN FREE!

Now my whole family uses the products, too. My hair has dramatically gotten fuller and shinier. Before starting it, it was horrible. Stringy, lifeless and dull. Go to their website www.morroccomethod.com

Hi Madatgluten! First, let me welcome you to the group. I am very new to this gluten free thing as well (just about a month Gluten-Free) and I can tell you, you have come to the right place for help. Just be sure to check the date on forums. This one is very old and no one has added to it for a while so chances of getting response are lessened.

I checked it out because I have been in the same boat. I am trying to replace all of my cosmetics and skin care with safe products and I have found it very frustrating to find information on what is safe and what isn't. I did find a new cosmetic company that I like. It's called Joelle cosmetics and it's completely gluten free. They produce mineral powder foundations like Bare Minerals but they are substantially cheaper. I have been using it for about a week now and I love it! Joelle can only be purchased online.

I just started using Dessert Essence skin care as well. I tried the Pomegranate Facial wash and skin serum and I like it. Many of their products have tea tree oil (or melaluca) in them which I am allegic to so I have to be careful but I like what I have tried so far. I have heard wonderful things about their shampoos and conditioners so I am going to try them next. You can get them at Whole Foods or online. Online is a little less expensive.

      That test is saying that your daughter is not making normal amounts of any IGA antibodies. She's not making normal amounts of antibodies against gliadin, not against bacteria, not against viruses. She is deficient in total IGA, so the test for antigliadin antibodies is not valid. The test was a failure. The test only works if all different kinds of antibodies...

Can you be more specific about which IGA test was run that resulted in 114 score and said to be "normal" and could you please include the reference range for what would be normal? By the size of that number it looks like it may have been what we call "total IGA" but that test is not usually run...

      Positive biopsy

      Upper endoscopy last week resulted in positive biopsy for celiac disease. The IgA they ran was normal (114). Does positive biopsy automatically mean definitive diagnosis?

      That test is saying that your daughter is not making normal amounts of any IGA antibodies.  She's not making normal amounts of antibodies against gliadin, not against bacteria, not against viruses.  She is deficient in total IGA, so the test for antigliadin antibodies is not valid.  The test was a failure.  The test only works if all different kinds of antibodies were being made.  Your daughter is not making all different kinds of antibodies, so the test results are moot.  Your daughter should have the DGP IgG and TTG IgG tests done.   The tests should be performed while she is still consuming gluten.  Stopping and restarting a gluten containing diet can make her more sick, just like you refuse to eat gluten for testing.  Call the doctor's office, request both the IGG tests. Request to be put on the cancellation list for an appointment sooner.  Ask for genetic testing.   Celiac disease is passed on from parents to children.  You and all seven children should be tested for genes for Celiac disease.  Your parents, your siblings and their children should be tested as well.  Eating gluten is not required for genetic testing because your genes don't change.  Genetic testing is not a diagnosis of Celiac disease.  Just having the genes means there is the potential of developing Celiac disease if the Celiac genes are activated.  Genetic testing helps us decide if the Celiac genes are activated when coupled with physical symptoms, antibody testing, and biopsy examination. It's frustrating when doctors get it wrong and we suffer for it.  Hang in there.  You're a good mom for pursuing this!

I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  It contains the easily activated forms of B vitamins needed by people with the MTHFR genetic variation often found with Celiac disease.   Avoid B Complex vitamins if they contain Thiamine Mononitrate if possible.  (Read the ingredients listing.)  Thiamine Mononitrate is the "shelf-stable" form of B 1 that the body can't utilize.  B vitamins breakdown when exposed to heat and light, and over time.  So "shelf-stable" forms won't breakdown sitting on a shelf in a bright store waiting to be bought.  (It's also very cheap.)  Thiamine Mononitrate is so shelf-stable that the body only absorbs about thirty percent of it, and less than that is utilized.  It takes thiamine already in the body to turn Thiamine Mononitrate into an active form.   I take MegaBenfotiamine by Life Extension.  Benfotiamine has been shown to promote intestinal healing, neuropathy, brain function, glycemic control, and athletic performance.   I take TTFD-B1 Max by Maxlife Naturals, Ecological Formulas Allthiamine (TTFD), or Thiamax by EO Nutrition.  Thiamine Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide (TTFD for short) gets into the brain and makes a huge difference with the anxiety and getting the brain off the hamster wheel.  Especially when taken with Magnesium Threonate.   Any form of Thiamine needs Magnesium to make life sustaining enzymes and energy.  I like NeuroMag by Life Extension.  It contains Magnesium Threonate, a form of magnesium that easily crosses the blood brain barrier.  My brain felt like it gave a huge sigh of relief and relaxed when I started taking this and still makes a difference daily.   Other brands of supplements i like are Now Foods, Amazing Formulas, Doctor's Best, Nature's Way, Best Naturals, Thorne, EO Nutrition. Naturewise.  But I do read the ingredients labels all the time just to be sure they are gluten and dairy free. Glad to help with further questions.

By the size of that number it looks like it may have been what we call "total IGA" but that test is not usually run without also running a TTG-IGA. Total IGA tests for IGA deficiency. If someone is IGA deficient, then the celiac-specific IGA tests like the TTG-IGA will be inaccurate. Was this the only IGA test that was run? To answer, your question, yes, a positive biopsy is normally definitive for celiac disease but there are some other medical conditions, some medications and even some food proteins in rare cases that can cause positive biopsies. But it is pretty unlikely that it is due to anything other than celiac disease.
