Ok, I guess this is a question for the ladies here...

Anyone notice that eating gluten-free effects PMS? I've only been gluten-free for maybe 6 weeks now, but I had been having bad PMS before and this month I had no problems at all! Could it be related? If so, my hubby will sure be happy  I didn't have any PMS symptoms until 3 years ago, when the other symptoms of celiac disease started to get bad. Maybe the two are somehow connected...or maybe I'm just hoping that it's another positive side effect of the gluten-free diet! Also, my face used to break out every month and now it's cleared up almost entirely! Anyone else?

I had bad PMS,and acne which cleared up with my gluten-free diet :D I think they are connected in some way.

I have been glutenfree for amost 2 years and I PMS just as bad as I used to and the brekaing out is back. Waw. I tought maybe all that had passed but not for me!

When my early teen daughter has gotten into something, she becomes this PMS monster. Mine leveled out after going gluten-free, though it took longer than a few weeks. To the one who is still having problems, are you sure you aren't ingesting something hidden? Might want to recheck some labels and especially your soaps and such. The breakouts I have decided are hopeless. My skin gets much better then it breaks out again. Only thing I can figure is an accidental ingestion. The only time I know I got into something, it took six months for the breakout to completely clear.

I know I am not ingesting any gluten. It's nothing out of the normal and probably all enhanced from the stresses of classes! Also, my periods were a little wacky when I started glutenfree but after a few months got back on track. Which could explain a lot.

I had a hysterectomy in 2001..I still have my ovaries though.

I still get one pimple on my chin every month, and I get real teary and sensitive too. it does seem to be worse at the same time each month.

Nothing seems to have changed for me. I might add that there's a lot of stress and tention in my life in connection with my grown children. :(

Glad that some of you noticed a difference after going gluten-free! I'm hoping that the next go-around will be as easy as last time. I had never had PMS before but in the last 3 years (when my other symptoms had gotten bad) I had been having it increasingly worse.

I'm heading into early menopause, so I am having trouble telling the PMS swings from the perimenopausal swings. I want it all to be over!!

This is a really cool thought. I swear it seems everything is connected to celiac disease does'nt it? I never had any real pimple problems not even as a kid, but I contantly had rashes around my mouth and all aver my neck. It looked like pimples but were'nt, it was itchy and burning. I would also get small exema patches around my nose and mouth. Dermatologists never knew what it was. <_< As soon as I went gluten-free it all went away. (of course) My skin is gorgeous now! :D

I never thought about it but I guess the PMS is better too.

I have a 21 year old daughter who is also a celiac. Her skin is also much better. She would also get the same rash which is now gone and her pimple breakouts are better too. I don't think other PMS problems are changed for her though. :( oh well

Wendy ^_^

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.

plant sources of calcium, such as spinach, have calcium bound to oxalates, which is not good. best source of calcium is unfortunately dairy, do you tolerate dairy? fermented dairy like kefir is good and or a little hard cheese. i do eat dairy, i can only take so much dietary restriction and gluten is hard enough! but i guess some people do have bad reactions to it, so different for everyone.

i take b12, folate, b2, b6, glycine, Nac, zinc, vk2 mk4, magnesium, coq10, pqq, tmg, creatine, omega 3, molybdnem (sp) and just started vit d. quite a list i know.  I have high homocysteine (last checked it was 19, but is always high and i finally decided to do something about it) and very low vitamin d, 10. have been opposed to this supp in the past, but going to try it at 5k units a day. having a pth test on friday, which is suspect will be high. my homocysteine has come down to around 9 with 3 weeks of these supplements and expect it to go down further. i also started on estrogen/progesterone. I have osteoporosis too, so that is why the hormones.  anyway, i think all celiacs should have homocysteine checked and treated if needed (easy enough with b vit, tmg). homocysteine very bad thing to be high for a whole host of reasons. all the bad ones, heart attack , stroke, alzi, cancer..... one of the most annoying things about celiacs (and there are so many!) is the weight gain. i guess i stayed thin all those years being undiagnosed because i was under absorbing everything including calories. going gluten-free and the weight gain has been terrible, 30#, but i'm sure a lot more went into that (hip replacement - and years of hip pain leading to inactivity when i was previously very active, probably all related to celiacs, menopause) yada yada. i seemed to lose appetite control, like there was low glp, or leptin or whatever all those hormones are that tell you that you are full and to stop eating. my appetite is immense and i'm never full. i guess decades or more ( i think i have had celiacs since at least my teens - was hospitalized for abdominal pain and diarrhea for which spastic colon was eventually diagnosed and had many episodes of diarrhea/abdominal pain through my 20's. but that symptom seemed to go away and i related it to dairy much more so than gluten. Also my growth was stunted, i'm the only shorty in my family. anyway, decades of malabsorption and maldigestion led to constant hunger, at least thats my theory. then when i started absorbing normally, wham!! FAT!!!

Great advise there I agree with the aniexty part, and the aura migraine has I suffer both, I've also read some great books that have helped I'm going too look the one you mentioned up too thankyou for that, I find a camomile tea just a small one and a gentle wind down before bed has helped me too, I suffer from restless leg syndrome and nerve pain hence I don't always sleep well at the best of times , racing mind catches up I have decorated my whole house in one night in my mind before 🤣 diet changes mindset really help , although I have to say it never just disappears, I find once I came to terms with who I am I managed a lot better  , a misconception is for many to change , that means to heal but that's not always the case , understanding and finding your coping mechanisms are vital tools , it's more productive to find that because there is no failure then no pressure to become something else , it's ok to be sad it's ok to not sleep , it's ok to worry , just try to see it has a journey not a task 🤗
