gluten-free Pizza - John's Best, Westport Ct

Had gluten-free pizza from Open Original Shared Link in Westport CT last night - hey, pizza! They are the second commercial building east of Whole Foods, on the same side of the street.

crust was from a CT-based nationally distributed company, Open Original Shared Link, apparently they sell to consumers as well as restaurants & there is a list of their restaurant customers on their website.

Oddly the John's Best website mentions nothing about gluten-free, but they do always have it, my spouse even found a YouTube video from the local cable channel about the pizza & how they keep everything separate.

The crust was pretty good for gluten-free, we got take-out and on re-heating the edges were crispy but the middle wasn't fully crisped (just like gluten crust!). You can get any of their toppings (note eggplant and meatballs are not gluten-free toppings, we checked and bacon, sausage and zucchini are all gluten-free), and when we ordered the counter person even checked if we wanted cheese or *not*. He said many folks get no cheese, and Still Riding's website shows no dairy ingredients, so you could actually get gluten-free cf pizza!. There is one size - medium (14").

John's Best also has gluten-free pasta available and gluten-free cookies at their deli counter. We got a mozarella salad (moz, tomatoes, canned peppers, olive oil, herbs) and it came with...a side of italian bread (!) - thank goodness the salad was sealed in a plastic takeout container so no bread cc.

Pizza. wow, I ate pizza :)

Sorry for the delayed response, I was on vacation for a while...

There *are* other CT restaurants that use this gluten-free pizza dough, check out the still riding website & see if any are close by. Happy pizza eating :)

Engine 6 in Norwich also has GREAT pizza. I do not see them on the Still Riding web page but my wife and I drive about 30 minutes to eat at Engine 6. Calzones, Pizza and bread sticks. The owner, Marcel, is a great guy and just loves feeding celiacs! If you get the opportunity check it out - well worth the trip!

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
