Is anyone going this year?

Has anyone ever been before?

Is it worthwhile?

I'm thinking of only going on Sunday.

If you do go, please let us know what you thought. I had intentions of going early on but when I really thought about it, I decided to bail. I thought the whole week-end was rather expensive and I am not the type of person that normally gives that much thought. I live about 45 minutes from the site where it's being held so I thought maybe I would drive down and go for one day. However, most of the activities start very early in the day and, as I am NOT a morning person, I wasn't going to spend that much money and miss some of the seminars. It would be much easier to stay in the hotel but that adds on quite a bit of money to the whole package.

I also really gave the itinerary the once over and thought there really wasn't anything earth shattering that was different from what is already available everyday.

How many dessert classes can you go to? I have already converted most of my recipes to gluten-free status so there was little I would find interesting or new. I am not knocking the whole affair as it's great for newbies or those having a tough time with the diet but considering the whole package, with hotel and dinner out each night would cost about 1500.00 for 2 people, I decided my money would be best spent elsewhere. Like the gluten-free diet, these things are very pricey for what you get.

However, downtown Providence is a great destination and there are many restaurants and venues for gluten-free stuff anyway so it's a good place to spend some time.

The same thing-- I took a good look at the itinerary and wasn't that impressed. It seemed like everything was simply about sweets and I was hoping for more than that.

I still might do Sunday (the cooking demo day) which has the theme of cooking for the holidays. I'll have to check if I've missed the registration, but if I do go, I'll post a reaction!

I wish I could go, I live in Ct, but I just can't afford it. It was either this or a four-day getaway over Thanksgiving, and the celiac convention lost hands-down.

LOL!!! I don't blame you one bit. If I planned a getaway for a 4 day week-end, especially Thanksgiving, the convention would not win. I would guess they are not going to have the turn-out they expected because the economy is bad and people just do not have extra money to spend. Especially when you can buy a good cookbook or just convert your own recipes easily enough. I have also found that I do not have any cravings, as a whole, for carby stuff anymore and feel much better for it. Newbies will have to learn that if they bake a lot of gluten-free desserts and consume them, they are going to have a weight problem.....they are so fattening!

I also find I do not buy as much specialty gluten-free food anymore.....too expensive. I am sick of paying 10.00 for a small box of cookies.

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?
