Can Gluten Stop Pill From Being Absorbed?

Hi just wanted to know whether gluten can stop the contraceptive pill from being absorbed. I have had some breakthrough bleeding while taking the pill and have cheated on my diet. I am not sure wether I am gluten intollerant or celiac but im worried that if there are not enough hormones getting in I will get pregnant.

Am I overreacting and has anyone else experienced this?

I think I have seen something like that on www.pubmed.com .

But then you must have a lot of damage, not just some cheating every couple of months.

But again, when some celiacs were questioned about occasional cheating, one meant that occasional cheating was a slice of bread every week....and others mean a few cookies several times a week was ocasional cheating too.

In reality, it takes the villi up to 4 months to grow back properly.

And, celiacs diagnosed as adults , in those it typically takes more thatn a year, maybe 2 years, for the villi to almost normalize, but in most they never will completely normalize.

Children bounce back quicker and get more complete healing......

nora posted an excellent answer. If by cheating and healing is hindered, then yes, absorption can be compromised due to uncontrolled Celiac.

I am in agreement with the others. If an unplanned pregnancy is not something you desire then do use a barrier method just to be sure.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
