Hello everyone. I feel the need to tell everyone that Doctor Who is the BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I'm talking about the new shows that started in 2004. I have never been addicted to a show before, but this one is soooooo worth checking out!! In no time you will be talking with a british accent!

Used to be addicted to the old Pertwee and Tom Baker shows. Have only seen the new ones once since we don't have cable where I am in Hawaii.

They have to be great though

They are really good. The one I saw last night with the library has some of the best 'effects' I have ever seen in the show. Ever see any of the old ones with the doctor that wore the long scarf? I wouldn't mind seeing those on reruns again. Dr. Who and Dexter are the 2 shows I try not to miss.

We are big Doctor Who geeks at our house too!

My husband was reading online and David Tenet, who plays the handsome doctor, is no longer in the show. BUMMER!!!! Some guy who's not nearly as cute!

RWG- I think the effects on that show are pretty good, too. I was kind of surprised when BBC classified it as low-budget.

I agree. We just saw this year's Christmas Special and it made me cry. I hope the new doctor on 2010 is as good as the current one. He's my favorite!

Thats Tom Baker with the long scarf. My son sent us a dozen Dvds of various episodes he knows we like for Christmas.

I did some work with the BBC producer then but never could get on the show dressed as some cyberman <G>

so....who would win in a fight.....Rose or Martha? Donna dosn't look like much of a fighter.

My family is also bummed over the change in doctors, but we were also bummed the first time and that turned out great.

I don't know... Donna gets kind of scrappy toward the end of the season. (We have the real BBC channel at home and saw the Donna season already) I didn't watch much with Rose, but she makes an appearance at the end of the season. She's pretty tough. My money might be on her. :lol::lol:

We are also big Doctor Who fans, and have been for over twenty years. I personally put my money on Rose in any fight betweent the three (Rose, Martha, Donna).

I'm a bit confused over the library episode. The heavily implied that David Tenet was going to have an extended future with Dr. River Song. How can they then change to a new doctor, since it was his face that she continued to recognize?

Oh well, I just hope that the new doctor will be good. They generally are, but it's definitly a matter of opinion. This will be his ninth re-generation, so they don't have many more new actors they can get to do the role.

My mom is a huge fan of Dr Who and has been since I was a child.... Her fav is the first guy she loved him! Ill tell you... we were talking on Sunday and she found out that theres a new Dr. and She is NOT thrilled out him at all... So hopefully he's good. I liked the last guy he was cute in his OWN way.

I ordered seasons 1-4 and I'm half way through the 2nd. I got the complete series on e-bay for $120. My boyfriend, daughter and myself are just addicted to this show! I read that David Tennant wanted to be "The Doctor" since he was three, and is leaving the show to play Hamlet in a play. Also, he is Scottish and fakes his accent for the show. I also read that the new shows will start in 2010. I wonder how much of this info is true.

...and now my son is OBSESSED!!!!

I am sad David Tennant has left :(

      Welcome, @JudyLou, Your rash sounds very similar to the one I experienced. Mine was due to a deficiency in Niacin B3, although I had deficiencies in other nutrients as well. Celiac disease causes malabsorption of all the essential nutrients, but eating a poor diet, taking certain medications, or drinking alcohol can result in deficiency diseases outside...

      I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that...

      @Mark Conway, here is an article outlining the various tests that can be used to diagnose celiac disease. By far, the most popular one ordered by physicians is the tTG-IGA. But almost all of these tests are known by different names so the terminology will vary from place to place and lab to lab. The article gives common variant names for each test.  In addition to IGA tests there are IGG tests which are particularly useful in the case of IGA deficiency.

      Thank you so much @knitty kitty! My feet aren’t dry or ashy and I don’t have a rash that gets scaly. It’s like very itchy/burning vesicles that are symmetrical - on both arms, both legs, etc. They actually feel better in direct sunlight as long as it isn’t really hot or I’m not exercising outside, but gets worse if I sweat (especially if the area is covered up). It’s not usually on the outside of my elbows and knees which seems more typical of dermatitis herpetiformis (unless it spreads there). It tends to first hit the inside of those areas. Interestingly, twice the rash broke out soon after eating an unhealthy meal and having an alcoholic drink (I only drink a few times a year, no more alcohol content than a glass of wine).  So I wonder if there is a connection. I’m halfway considering doing a gluten challenge for a few months to see what happens, knowing I can stop if I have any symptoms, and asking for a full celiac disease panel at the end. I really appreciate your thoughts!

      Welcome, @JudyLou, Your rash sounds very similar to the one I experienced.  Mine was due to a deficiency in Niacin B3, although I had deficiencies in other nutrients as well.  Celiac disease causes malabsorption of all the essential nutrients, but eating a poor diet, taking certain medications, or drinking alcohol can result in deficiency diseases outside of Celiac, too.  Symptoms can wax and wane depending on dietary intake.  I knew an alcoholic who had the "boots" of Pellagra, which would get worse when he was drinking more heavily, and improve when he was drinking less.   Niacin deficiency is called Pellagra.  Symptoms consist of dermatitis, diarrhea, dementia, and death (the four D's).  A scaly rash on the feet and hands and arms are called the "boots" and "gloves" of Pellagra.  Darkened skin around the neck exposed to the sun is Casal's necklace.  Poor farmers with niacin deficient diets were called "red necks" because of this.    Does your rash get worse if you're in the sun?  Mine did.  Any skin exposed to the sun got blistered and scaly.  Arms, legs, neck, head.  Do you have dry, ashy skin on your feet?  The itchiness was not only from the rash, but neuropathy.   My doctors were clueless.  They didn't put all my symptoms together into the three D's.  But I did.  I'd learned about Pellagra at university.  But there weren't supposed to be deficiency diseases anymore in the developed world.  Doubtful it could be that simple, I started supplementing with Niacin and other essential nutrients.  I got better.   One of Niacinamide functions is to help stop mast cells from releasing histamine.  Your allergist gave you doxepin, an antihistamine which stops mast cells from releasing histamine.   Since you do have a Celiac gene, staying on the gluten free diet can prevent Celiac disease from being triggered again.   Interesting Reading: These case studies have pictures...       I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that food smell of nasty gluten- migraine and same with Walmart subway.I absolutely HATE im that sensitive, my body reacts.Sadly medical hasn't taken core issue of celiac being an issue considering glutenfree ever since 1994 and in their eyes not because they didn't diagnose me. I am and wish I wasn't. If there was a detector of gluten in the air it would make a world of difference.
