Anyone wish they could have a Girl Scout Cookie? i am really missing thin mints and thanks a lots (no pun intended)

I emailed GSA suggesting a gluten-free cookie and was quite disappointed with their repsonse. I am forwarding it on in case anyone else wants to write them with the suggestion that they come up with a gluten free cookie. With all kthe kids who have celiac i cant beleive they dont think the demand would be there for it!

request for a gluten free cookie. We have asked our cookie companies to

look into this--it is a question of supply and demand, complicated by

the increasing cost of ingredients and sourcing.

At this point, we are not able to guarantee if/when we will have gluten

free offerings; however, we can assure you that we will continue to look

for ways to improve and better serve our members and the public.

I know what you mean. I was sad when the little neighbor girl came to the door selling Girl Scout cookies. I always used to buy several boxes of the Samoas every year. SO DELICIOUS!!! It was always a special treat for me. I still bought some cookies for my kids, but it has been torture for me to watch them eat them. Oh well, I will just stick to my favorite gltuen free cookies. I don't see the Girl Scouts coming through for us with a gluten free cookie anytime soon.

I'm on the other side - I have a little Brownie Scout who could not sell or be near the boxes this year because she is Celiac. It is a bummer...at least we have lots of substitutes now-a-days!!!

Here is a recipe for gluten free, egg free Thin Mints. It's from Stephanie O'Dea who has the Crockpotting for a Year blog. She has a new blog Totally Together that has this recipe, but I am having trouble opening that blog today. I had already copied/pasted this recipe into a document yesterday b/c it sounds yummy! Stephanie made it once with Pamela's brownie mix, once with Bob's chocolate cake mix and said Pamela's was much better.

Thanks for sharing Holly . . . but now you've got me thinkin' . . . I think I'll just make the wafer part, leave out the mint and use these chocolate "cookies" to make ice cream sandwiches . . . :D

To make it economical and to earn money, the GS must sell millions and millions of boxes of each one of their cookies. Not only would they not be able to sell enough millions of gluten-free cookies, the price would probably be at least double and maybe triple the normal. I wouldn't buy them at that price. Heck, I won't even pay the price for gluten-free commercial cookies.

      Maybe you have a low  intolerance to Wheat.   Rye, Barley and Malt are the gluten in Celiac disease.  It has always been stated Wheat and Gluten, not just a Wheat intolerance.  Barley will keep me in bed for (2) weeks.  Gut, Migrains, Brain fog, Diahrea.  It is miserable.  And when I was a toddler the doctor would give me a malt medicine because I always had Anemia and did not grow.  Boy was he off.  But at that time the US didn't know anyone about Celiac.  This was the 1940s and 50s.  I had my first episode at 9 months and did not get a diagnosis until I was 50.  My immune system was so shot before being diagnoised, so now I live with the consequences of it. I was so upset when Manufacturers didn't want to label their products so they added barley to the product.  It was mostly the cereal industry.  3 of my favorite cereals were excluded because of this. Malt gives me a bad Gut reaction.

      It is odd that your Tissue Transglutaminase (TTG) IgA level has bounced from the "inconclusive" range (7.9, 9.8) down to a negative level (5.3), only to climb back up near the positive threshold.
