Walmart Has Gluten-free Section Now

When I was at my Walmart yesterday, which is being renovated to look like all the new Walmarts (much to my dismay, I liked it like it was!!!) but now I have to say I will be okay with it, because I discovered there is a whole little gluten-free section with pasta, Pamela's and Bob's Red Mill mixes etc at prices that you will NOT find anywhere else. The gluten-free flour mix which I use all the time was $3.60, unheard of anywhere else. I live in VERY northern Wisconsin and my grocery store does carry that product and it is way over $5. I am so happy. I actually have to drive 45 miles to get there, but for what I will be saving on my own gluten-free stuff and also for my business, it will be worth the drive. I always have a Walmart list going. I know there are people that don't like the place, but I love them for marking so many of their products GLUTEN FREE in big letters. Very smart.

I'll have to ask at our Wal-Mart about a gluten free section. I haven't seen one yet.

my Walmart (northern upstate NY) has added a gluten-free section featuring items from Bob's Red Mill, Pamela's, Tinkyada, Glutino, Gluten Free Pantry and Enjoy Life! the prices are spot-on to what i've been paying in other stores for these items and some stuff is even a little bit cheaper!

this makes me so happy - i no longer have to go to 3 different stores when i go grocery shopping now. :D

Our Idaho W-Mart has a section. I checked the prices on the flours and they were like 25-50 cents more than the co-op. We don't have a WF or TJ. The xanthan gum was about 50 cents cheaper though. I didn't check any other prices. No Enjoy Life yet.

The one in Valley Stream NY has none as of last Tuesday. I havent checked the one near my Job in East Meadow.

I live in the greater St. Louis area and my local Walmart has started to carry Pamela's chocolate chip cookies and Mi-Del gingersnaps. They have always (at least for the past year) carried Des Boles penne and spaghetti pasta. But, unfortunately, that's all the special gluten free brands they carry. I hope my Walmart starts to carry other items.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition with a genetic base. The the potential for developing the disease is inherited. but remains latent until triggered by some stress event. Thus, there is an epigenetic component to celiac disease. Once the genes are awakened from dormancy, celiac reactions are triggered by the ingestion of gluten.

Hi all, just ticked over into my first year gluten-free after being diagnosed last October and feeling a bit rough after a possible glutening. Diagnosed at the ripe age of 38, never been ill in my life before this so safe to say my health anxiety is now borderline unmanageable. I think I may have been glutened a week ago, since then I’ve had that familiar hot/burning feeling in my gut, gas, bloating and all the Bristol Stool chart types in one sitting. I know people are different but does this sound familiar to anyone? Stomach was churning like mad last weekend like it did when I first ill before diagnosis. Acid reflux(which was my first symptom way back when) also reared its ugly head, which I probably the worst symptoms imo. Anxiety is probably up more so as I’m leaving on holiday to USA in 3 weeks time, which would be pretty much ruined if my guts are still messed by the time we leave.  Any words of wisdom appreciated    Bryan

This doesn't answer your question but I'm not sure if you know that this intolerance is passed down from mother to child through Cord blood and or breast milk.

I’m having this type of MRI this afternoon,  What specifically do you want to know?  From what I’ve read, not all facilities use the same drink prep.

Hi I've been told I need a MRI on my bowels , I was booked for a colonoscopy, but because of my sever back issues and trapped nerve it can't be done , the nurse told me I will have to have a manitol drink a hour before the scan , I'm just a bit worried has I have issues with sweeteners like even a little,  I get a weird throat and ears and I've read it is a similar substance , not sure if anyone has had one of these scans or could give me some advise on the drink prep thanks in advance 😄
