My doctor wrote 3 tests and he asked me if I wanted to do all of them as they are expensive. I don't think he sees many patients asking for these tests but he was very cooperative when I described my sympoms.

-IgA Antiendomysial

-IgA Antigliadin

and IgG antigliadin

are the last two different?

Also, can someone tell if I have to pay for lactose and fructose intolerances and other food allergy tests? Should I keep consuming some milk before being checked for lactose intolerance. I haven't had milk for months but I was using creme in my caffeinated drinks and stopped for the last 3 weeks.

Thank you.

Yes, the last two are different. You also want the total IgA test done.

My understanding of the lactose/fructose intolerence tests is that patient is given a drink containing the ingredient in question (such as a kool-aid type juice drink for the fructose test) then made to breath into a device to measure the gasses released.

It sounds expensive. Do you have insurance? If so, check with them first to know what your portion of the bill will be. If not, check with the practioner first to know exactly what is to be charged. Perhaps you could work out a payment plan?

So what's the total IgA test my doctor is sending me for the 3 above tests. What are the necessary tests to check celiac D?

Yes, I have insurance. Thanks for the tip.

You also need the IgG tTG and IgA tTG. Along with total IgA, those are the most important tests for diagnosing celiac disease.

The tTG IgG test is generally recommended to be run only if the patient is IgA deficient.

Info on testing: Open Original Shared Link

"Of the commercially available serologic tests that aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease, no one test is ideal. Using multiple serologies increases the diagnostic yield. Therefore, in the United States, screening in patients with possible celiac disease should consist of a panel of the following serologic tests:

Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG

Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA

Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA

Total IgA level."

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
