My son is on Nexum. Its the only thing he is taking right now that I can NOT figure out if it has gluten or some kind of contamination. I am having issues with his rash from gluten not going away..

I did research before I cam begging for easy answers. Company has not returned my call.

I found both sites that say yes it has gluten, and some that say thats just crazy talk.

Does anyone know for sure??

I called walgreens but they could hardly speak english and kept asking me what gluten was and the more I explained the more confused the woman got and we both got mad at each other and basically hung up!

I stopped the meds for 2 days, the rash is clearing, but i also stopped soy and he doesn't eat the same thing everyday so I am having trouble pin pointing if its the meds or not. I had to take the rout of stopping everything and slowly adding rather then taking away to pin point as he was back to the vomiting and refusing food.

Any ideas here??? I am pulling my hair out.

Nexium does or does not have gluten???

Nexium is listed on this gluten free drug list. But, I always encourage people to have an additional source as things can change quickly.

Prilosec is gluten free as well as the generic Omeprazole

I just spoke with a registered nurse at Astra Zenica. She told me that both the purple pill and the oral suspension Nexium are gluten free. :)

The best way to know about a particular medication is to call the company directly.

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
