Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a list of gluten free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sunscreen, make-up? I found the list of ingredients in foods that shouldn't be eaten. I was wondering if there was a similar list for body products.

Thanks.

Just don't eat your shampoo and sunscreen and you can use whatever you want.

As a marketer, I can appreciate the "gluten-free" shampoo (body wash/sunscreen/conditioner) thing, because people who cannot EAT gluten will buy it thinking they have to.

Lipstick/gloss/balm can be a different story if you are very sensitive since you can get that into your mouth.

Wash your hands very well after sunscreen (which you would probably do anyway).

Dove and Suave will list clearly any gluten ingredients. Giovanni is also a nice line and everything is gluten free. Burts Bees will also clearly list gluten and most of their stuff is gluten-free. Another one is Garneir, they are my brand of choice for shampoo, conditioner and hair color.

There is a great deal of difference among us as to whether or not you need to have toiletries gluten free or not. I myself am zero tolerance and avoid gluten in anything. Others will say that you don't have to worry about it. If you are new to the gluten free life you may want to avoid it until you heal and then if you desire add gluten back in as far as toiletries are concerned. It seems some of us definately react and some of us definately don't. No way of knowing which group you would be in.

Welcome googles! :D

With topical products, I read the labels to look for the obvious gluten ingredients like wheat protein, wheat germ, oat protein, etc. Other ingredients that can be derived from wheat are fragrances and vitamin E/tocopherals. When in doubt, it's always best to call the company and ask.

As to whether to use gluten-free topical products--it's really a personal choice. I have most definitely been glutened by shampoo and hair gel, so I stick to gluten-free products. I don't eat them, obviously, but shampoo runs down my face in the shower, and I have a habit of absentmindedly chewing on the sides of my fingernails. Just using a lotion or sunscreen without thoroughly washing and then picking up a piece of fruit or something can cause a reaction in the very sensitive.

Ravenwood had several great ideas for products. I use a salon product called Goldwell Color Shampoo and Conditioner that I get at Ulta. Brocato also has some gluten-free products.

In the shower, I've been using Basis Sensitive Skin Bar Soap, available at any drugstore. A great facial cleanser is MyChelle Honeydew Cleanser. That line is available at Whole Foods.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I asked because it seems like every other time I shower I somehow end up with shampoo in my mouth no matter how hard I try not to. I just figured it would be easier to have all my products gluten free especially since I like being outside and when reapplying there isn't always somewhere to wash your hands.

Thanks again!

Does 'list clearly any gluten ingredients' mean wheat will be listed as the source of Vitamin E(TOCOPHERYL ACETATE)? I contacted Suave by e-mail about the source of Tocopheryl Acetate in their Naturals Coconut Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash and they responded that corn was the major source. I am waiting for a response as to whether the source is ever wheat, rye, barley or oats. I keep reading that Suave is safe and lists ingredients but if I don't know for sure the source of the tocopheryl acetate I guess I can't be sure?

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.

If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.
