Gluten Free Nuts

Has anyone had experience with Kirklands Walnuts or Almonds. I cannot tolerate even the trace amounts of CC on most nuts. I am really missing not having nuts in my diet. I know they are not processed in a gluten free facility, so I'm wondering if some of you might have some information. Can I eat them? I checked out a lot of places online and they all tell me their nuts are processed with wheat. I got sick from some raw pumpkin seeds I bought from nutsonline dot com. Thanks for any help.....signed desperate for a nut...:)

I am HIGHLY sensitive to gluten and Planter's mixed nuts, made by Kraft, (like the South Beach diet mix- not the roasted-I haven't tried those) have never given me any issues. I have eaten them almost daily for 2 years and I would know if there were any gluten.

Just a thought...others will post,

I buy all the different Kirkland brand nuts as well as the trail mix, no problems and my dd is super-sensitive.

I was wondering the same thing. I bought organic nuts and dried fruits from the health food store. They couldn't tell me whether they were prepared in a gluten-free environment since they were packaged in plain, unlabeled plastic bags. I'm afraid to eat them!! I'm new at all of this and have made at least one mistake every day for the 6+ weeks I've been at this. I would appreciate input along with 'desperate for a nut'. Thanks for the help.

The bins can be cross contaminated. You will make mistakes, we all do, hopefully as we become more aware the mistakes will be less and less, just be diligent and read your labels. It's been a little over a year for me and every once in a while something slips by me. I eat a whole food diet so it's not so hard for me. But like I said I am missing nuts...and hope to be able to add these back into my diet...hope the same for you, good luck. Linda

I am also highly sensitive to any CC and have confirmation that Blue Diamonds Almonds are perfectly safe, even the majority of the flavored ones are ok. Just be careful of a couple of their flavors like Wasabi and Soy Sauce. Those do have wheat but it is clearly listed. I think there is also one other flavor that might have gluten so just read the labels.

Planters as previously mentioned are pretty much safe, but there a couple of them that do contain oats and possibly even wheat, so again, just read the labels.

I buy either Now brand nuts or I get Wegmans brand. If you shop at Wegmans do be sure that the size container you get has the circle G. I usually get cashews there and noticed at one time that one size had the G and another size package didn't. When I called to ask they said that different companies produce the different sizes and the ones without the G were not gluten free.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm still adapting to eating gluten free, and I thought reading labels had pretty much become a habit, but I have never thought about checking the ingredients on bags of nuts! I'm glad I found this site, it's been very helpful!

      Healthy Omega Three fats.  Olive oil or flaxseed oil, oily fish, fatty cuts of meat.   Our bodies run much better on burning fats as fuel.  Diets based on carbohydrates require an increased amount of thiamine to process the carbs into fuel for the body.  Unfortunately, thiamine mononitrate is used to enrich rice.  Thiamine mononitrate is relatively unusable in the body.  So a high carb diet can further decrease thiamine stores in the body.  Insufficient thiamine in the body causes the body to burn body fat and muscle for fuel, so weight loss and muscle wasting occurs.  Those extra carbohydrates can lead to Candida (often confused with mold toxicity) and SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).   Losing weight quickly is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.  Muscle wasting is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.  I lost sixty pounds in a month.   Having difficulty putting weight on and keeping it on is a symptom of thiamine insufficiency.   The AIP diet works because it eliminates all grains and grasses, rice, quinoa, all the carbs.  Without the carbs, the Candida and SIBO get starved and die off.  Easy way to change your microbiome is to change what you feed it.  With the rowdy neighbors gone, the intestine can heal and absorb more nutrients.   Supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals is beneficial.  Talk to your doctor and nutritionist.  Benfotiamine is a form of thiamine that promotes intestinal healing.  The eight B vitamins are water soluble, so if you don't need them, they can be gotten rid of easily.   Night shades are excluded on the AIP diet.  Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are not allowed on the AIP diet.  They contain alkaloids that promote "a leaky gut".  Benfotiamine can help here. Sweet potatoes are avoided because they contain thiaminases, chemicals that break thiamine so that the body cannot use it.   The AIP diet has helped me.

      A gluten ingestion can last for many months.  Many years ago there was a celiac conference in Fl.  Everyone there got contaminated with some having difficulty 6 months to recover.  It will hit your Lympatic system and spread  through the body and effect your nevous system as well. Most times when I get glutened it is from a prescription med that wasn't checked close enough.  the Pharmacuticals change vendors all the time.
