Gluten Free Instant Mashed Potatoes?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know which brands of instant mashed potatoes are gluten free? I have an awesome recipe for breaded chicken that I used before going gluten free & can still use. It's yummy! All I need is the gluten free instant potatoes.

If anyone wants the recipe, I'll be happy to post it!

Tigercat, I don't normally buy instant mashed potatoes but did so shortly before Christmas to make a dry instant potato soup mix (it was 'so so') and don't know if I'll ever make it again. But I did find gluten free instant mashed potatoes at Wal-Mart. Great Value brand. On the back of the box it is marked gluten free.

I'd love to have your recipe... :D

I use Idaho Spuds brand, they disclose on the back that they contain milk ingredients only. :)

Paradise Valley are fantastic. They are just potatoes, that's it. They come in a multi packet box and being a home of 1 I usually have leftovers. They reheat well and make a great topping for shepards pie.

Hi everyone! Thanks for all your help! I'm so glad there are so many gluten free potato flakes out there!

Here's my awesome chicken recipe!

4-5 Boneless chicken breasts

1 egg

1/4 cup of milk

1 cup instant potato flakes

1 tsp. garlic salt

1 tsp. paprika

1 tsp. poultry seasoning or McCormick Original Chicken Seasoning

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

2 Tbsp. melted butter or margarine

* Preheat oven at 400

Wash chicken & trim fat. Pat dry.

In a bowl, beat egg & milk.

In another bowl combine potato flakes, garlic salt, paprika, Parmesan cheese and poultry seasoning.

Dip chicken breasts in egg mixture.

Then roll chicken in the potato mixture and evenly coat all sides.

Place chicken in baking pan.

Sprinkle the melted butter on breaded chicken

Bake at 400 for about 20 mins.

* Increase oven temp to 425 - cook for an additional 5-10 mins or until chicken is tender & juices run clear

Boy, I'm getting hungry! :D

      Yes, I've read that online but I was just surprised that no one has mentioned it on this forum specifically.  We have not had our follow up meeting with the Dr where I'm sure she will advise as to how he needs to deal with this ailment.  I have learned from past health issues - if you want to find the REAL truth - talk to someone living with the disease.  THEY will know way more than any doctor ever could.    Thanks for responding.

For managing LC, some find relief with anti-inflammatory medications (like budesonide) or dietary adjustments (low-fat, low-fiber, or dairy-free trials), but his gastroenterologist can tailor a plan.       @CeliacPI, I know this does not directly address your question but it is well-known that in the celiac population, intestinal diseases in general are statistically more common than they are in the general population - IBS, colitis, lymphoma, etc.

      My husband was diagnosed with Celiac in January 2025.  He has been on a gluten free diet since official endoscopy which confirmed Celiac.  He just recently had a colonoscopy where he was diagnosed with "Lymphocytic Colitis".  His Gastroenterologist said that Lymphocytic Colitis is also associated with Celiac Disease.  I have looked on this forum and don't see any mention of other people being diagnosed with this disease.  Can anyone tell me if they have also been diagnosed with this?  They also found "dysplasia" in the colon which is considered precancerous and therefore they need to do another colonoscopy using a special technique called chromoendoscopy which helps them find abnormalties in the lining of the colon.  I can see why having Celiac for 55 years without knowing it and eating gluten every day would likely not be kind to your intestines and colon.  I would think more people would have these types of issues.  Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this.  Appreciate any feedback and advice on how to manage.   Thanks!
