Gluten-Free Cosmetics

I've used products from Neutrogena, Revlon, L'Oreal and Maybelline without issue. Since I don't ingest them nor do I have DH, I've had no problems using them. I think personal care products are generally more difficult to verify the gluten-free status. Most companies give a standard CYA response.

Edit: I should qualify that to say that obviously lipsticks or lip balms do need to be gluten-free.

I do think that using these products is on a personal trial and error basis.

You have to consider the following:

*How sensitive you are (are you still getting sick while using a certain product every now and then - when there seem to be no other possibilities)

*How prone you may be to make an absent-minded mistake that could end up with "trace ingestion" of these products (forgetting to wash hands before touching food after application - or being rushed and eating while applying).

*The possibilities within your own budget

There may be more things to consider, but these three have been the most important factors in my product choice decisions.

I definitely agree with you...it's a personal decision. And I'm cheap, too. I used to be a product snob and would now rather buy gluten-free flours! ;)

For hand cream or lotion, CeraVe is gluten-free and is available at Wally World, as well as drug stores. That's a product that definitely needs to be gluten-free.

I seem to always have problems finding a cream that moisturizes my hands enough (I usually use foot cream :))

...recently began using coconut oil and its great for my body but doesn't really do it for my hands (shampoo shouldn't be too hard, just need something soft on my skin)

I've been using the hand cream from Andalou (Andalou Naturals?...it isn't in front of me so I can't remember exact name...) I like it as it is strong but doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy. I order it online but have found it at my local organic market. Once you order from them the first time online they will send you lots of email deals for 'sales' of specific items so I wait for a 20% off email coupon and then stock up!

I've also just started using the lip balm from Neutrogena Naturals -- that whole line is gluten free. I like it.

After that list - gulp - I feel like just wearing a mask when I leave the house!

Amen!!

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
