Yeast Overgrowth In A Kiddo Just Dxn?

I am starting to think my 2 1/2 year old might have a yeast overgrowth problem??

He was having D 5-7 times a day, which has got much better, but his stools are still pretty loose most of the time. However, it's just a 1-2 times a day. He also gets yeast diaper rashes a lot. Anything I can do for this?? Could this be why his D is hanging on??

Is he the one that has Celiac?

My 2 1/2 year old daughter who has Celiac kept getting yeast diaper rash and thrush. I had read a up on what to do to help yeast problems and found that coconut contains medium chain fatty acids that kill yeast as well as give you really healthy fats that are easier to digest. At first I would apply coconut oil directly on the rash and let her eat a small spoonful several times a day and it helped to clear up the rash and keep it from getting worse, but she still would get it every once in awhile - although not as bad or as often.

Then last year we found the coconut milk and kefir (the brand is So Delicious). We started giving her coconut milk and coconut kefir in place of other dairy products, and I realized several months later that she hadn't had another yeast problem and she hasn't since. It also really helped with her digestion and I think it is what helped her to not drop her weight as drasticly until we found out about the gluten problem.

In all my reading and research I found that it is pretty common to have bacterial imbalances with gluten problems, and often yeast is one of them. I have had problems with bacterial over growth as well and to try to help us heal more quickly i have taken my daughter and I off of yeast products.

I'm sure you have read it before, but the reason you can have bacterial problems with Celiac is because of not having enough good bacteria in the gut which can result from many different things including diarrhea. That is why eating things like kefir and taking a probiotic supplement can be a really beneficial thing. Another thing to keep in mind is that keeping your sugar intake low will also help by not allowing the yeast or bad bacteria to grow - sugar is what feeds them - and you may even find that the bacteria will cause your body to crave sugar.

Well, I hope some of this might help you a little.

Roda Rising Star

My youngest, when he was a baby, continually had thrush and yeast diaper rashes. I knew he had a bad bowel overgrowth (from antibiotic use) when his stool smelled yeasty and he was passing stings of mucus with no stool. Not everybody is comfortable with giving them medication, but in our case I opted for medicine prescribed by his pediatrician. I also started him on probiotics as an infant also. For the thrush we had to coat his mouth with a liquid several times a day, and for the bowel, he swallowed a medicine. I also had to swab myself since he was breastfeeding so as not to reinfect him and prevent me from getting it. He is now 5 1/2 years old and has had no more problems with yeast and I still give him probiotics (he is not celiac).

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
