Need Recommendation Of Restaurants Syracuse To Philly

Booey Newbie

I'm taking a road trip from Syracuse to Philadelphia this week and need to know where I can eat. Does anyone know of places off of I-81 between Syracuse, NY and Clarks Summit, PA and/or off of the PA Tpke NE extension between Clarks Summit and Philly that are truly gluten free. Places should be close to exits (no more than five or so miles). Location to be visited in Philly is near Bensalem.

Thanks!

Check out Relish in Allentown, not far from the Lehigh Valley exit of the PA Turnpike extension. Delicious food - even gluten-free cheesesteaks!

Will you be in Bensalem, or nearby --- I live near there.

I would recommend the following which all have Gluten Free Menu Options

Red Robin (Oxford Valley Mall location off Rt 1 near Sesame Place)

Jules Thin Crust (Locations in Newtown, Jenkintown, and Doylestown)

Outback (Street Road location)

UNO Pizzeria (Neshaminy Mall location - or Oxford Valley Mall location)

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
