Good Thing We Called!

So my daughter called Red Lobster and asked if they "have gluten free food". Dude goes, "uh, no", and she goes, "well, broiled fish has flour on it?" and he goes, "uh, I think they 'paint' something on it before they send it to us :o so, we can't guarantee that it's gluten free unless you buy a live lobster from the tank".

Well, when I was six, I was in Chicago with my daddy and he took me to some fancy famous Chicago restaurant and told me to pick me out a lobster from this tank, so I did.

AND THEY BROUGHT IT TO ME ON A PLATE KILLED AND DEAD! and OMG the scene I caused in that restaurant! My poor daddy and those people that worked there, oh, God love 'em.... I thought it was going to be a PET! Serious story, folks!

So we're going to Changs, I trust them. But I can't remember, is it a round or square plate so you know they remembered to do it gluten free?

Also, can I order a margerita? Or just a huge jug of tequila? What's the story on that? Turns out, there's 22 people coming to my birthday party, so I'm gonna need a drink! And I don't even know WHO the 22 people are! Anyway, I hope they're people I like LOL :P

so, what's the story on the drink and the plate?

Now I have a fat swollen half a face and a red, swollen eye - I look like a prize fighter or one of them mean Kentucky girls that wants to fight everyone she sees, but that aint me, cuz now I also burned my eye today when I turned on the air in my car and the fan thing blew a hot, red ash straight onto my eyeball, but I won't go into that cuz kareng worries about me and my frivolities!

You want the round plate with the PF Chang's logo around the edge. Can't help on the drink--I always order wine.

Have a great time--I love the Philip's Better Lemon Chicken, I almost always end up ordering it.

Get the chocolate dome for dessert--tell them it's your birthday and maybe they'll put a candle in it.

Happy Birthday :D

Happy Birthday Connie!

Take some benedryl for that swollen face (after all your birthday alcohol has worn off of course :P )

Oh, yeah, Patti! I was going to ask about that dessert, too, cuz I saw that on their online menu! Man, I will be SO nervous eating that! You've had it? It's ok?

OMG! I love your lobster story. That's hilarious!

I love P.F. Chang's! They tell you when you order what plate they'll bring your gluten-free food on. Make sure they bring you the gluten-free soy sauce too. You absolutely have to have the lettuce wrap appetizer. They're sooooo good!

Tequilla is gluten-free for sure. Margarita mix should be too, though they can probably tell you. I can't drink margaritas any more. I had too many with cheap tequilla down in Mexico and I get queasy just thinking about them now. I tend to drink sake at Chang's but not everyone likes it.

Have a great birthday party. Sounds fun. B)

Seriously good!!! . . . I'm not the Celiac, my daughter is . . . Is it bad when you steal half your daughter's dessert? I couldn't let her have too many sweets, you know?

I've had it many times! It's so good--the raspberry sauce they put over the top is a thing of beauty!

The gluten-free menu is on the back page of the regular menu--just be sure to tell the waiter you will be ordering off the gluten-free menu. I've never had a problem there.

On Monday at work, I ordered chicken and shrimp fried rice. It tasted a bit like Heaven, yes it did. Man, I wish I could cook like that at home. Their food is seriously good.

I also am going to write an appreciation letter to Red Lobster because they were HONEST about it. My daughter asked first if they could accommodate a party that big, and they sure could have lied about it. So even though they couldn't say it's gluten-free, they told the truth, and that means more to me than if they were gluten-free. Did that make sense?

Makes perfect sense--all I ask of any company is to be honest with the facts so I can make up my own mind.

Happy Birthday, Connie!

PF Changs sounds like a great choice.

And now the eye thing..... I don't ever want to be on the same airplane as you, on the same road, or drinking out of the same wine box! :P

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
