Pms And Glutening

Have you girls ever gotten glutened around that time of the month and it made your PMS bad? I usually will get it a little bit but not horrible. I was supposed to start a few days ago and then got glutened. My PMS pain, lethargy, cramps have been downright awful and I'm starting late now, today instead of 3 days ago. UGH misery.

I have not had an accidental glutening happen yet at that time, but I can tell you that before going gluten free my PMS was horrible. In addition to the symptoms to you mentioned I would cry uncontrollably for no reason a day or two before it started. I haven't had an unexplained crying session since going gluten free :)

My PMS symptoms got really bad after I stopped breastfeeding my youngest son in 2006. That is when all my other symptoms started up also. My husband said that I was unbearable to be around that my mood swings were horrible. He also noted that I was never that bad before, just a little emotional. The back pain and cramping were bad enough that I would take three ibuprofen every 6 hours for the first two days. My symptoms came to the forefront because, without realizing it, I was gluten light for the first 10 months I was breastfeeding. I started eating stuff again after that as my son outgrew some of his intolerences. I never had a period for the 16 months I breastfed, so to say the least, when it did come it was a shocker. I never put two and two together until about 4-5 months after going gluten free, I found my mood swings were better and no more horrible back pain and cramping. Now I think I may be perimenopausal. Periods have been coming earlier than they have in the past, barely lasting 3-4 days and flow alot less. <_<

You are so lucky you didn't have a period while breastfeeding. I got mine back with both babies when they were around 4 months old and I was breastfeeding exclusively, no formula whatsoever. Not fair!

Yep. Just recently. My periods are apparently being regular now that I'm actually getting nutrition in me. So, when the PMS started just 3 weeks after my last period (which was extremely light), I started my usual baby paranoia all over again when the breasts started hurting, head spinning, mood swings, craving random food etc. Nope, AF a week earlier than I start wondering when she'll appear. Regular periods are weird.

During my symptomatic-glutenous days, I used to get HORRIBLE cramping and abdominal pain during my periods. Curled up in the fetal position against the wall in the back room when I worked at Panera is NOT on my list of things to repeat. :) My doc even switched my birth control because of it. It helped for the most part, but I still got episodes every so often. I haven't been gluten free for long enough to know if it's made a difference in that regard, but I didn't have ANY pain or cramping with my periods before my intolerance-activating infection.

This is really helpful  I had not considered sugar alcohols or inulin as triggers. Thanks for the practical baking tips too color coding and baking G F first makes a lot of sense. Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern. Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
