I called our local Baskin Robins about thier ice cream cakes, and they have a cake base BUT they wold gladly make me a gluten-free one as long as I gave them at least 24 hours notice. Apreantly it has to "freeze over night".

Since we do not have carvel down here, this is next best thing. :)

Wow, what will they make it out of and do you have to worry about cross contaminaton?

Kati, you used to work at TCBY, right? Are these cakes safe?

Looks like there's hope for my birthday yet....

Ice Cream of course, and you always have to worry about cross contimaination. All you can do is educate and hope. :)

With softserve there really is no issue of cross contamination..nothing touches where that comes out...

With ice cream there is a possibility of contamination with scoops...always ask them to wash it

With shivers..the machine may have contamination issues because it mixes up ice creams with toppings such as oreos.

Well the ice cream cakes have wheat in them BUT if you let them know in advance they will make you an all ice cream one that is gluten free.

Talk to the manager though or someone at a higher position then a regular employee because they don't know anything...they will look at you with a blank look on their face.

The manager should take care of this with no problem.

Make sure you say when working on your cake they must not touch any other food while preparing it unless they wash their hands or change gloves before coming back to it. Specify that this is a major health issue and can make you sick with the slightest bit.

The place I worked at catered to these people with no problem...as long as you make them aware of the issue the manager will handle it(at least the manager at the place I worked with did..and was great)

I know that McFlurry's at Mcds are definitely gluten-free because they dont use an universal mixer, they attach a new mixer (the spoon attaches to the mixer) for each mcflurry.

Do you know if the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry is gluten-free? I'm in Canada and this item isn't on the website, I guess because it's a seasonal item or it's just not served in every McDonald's... or something.

We have gotten 1/2 dozen or so cakes from our Baskin Robins with out any problems... sadly there is none near by us now (we moved), so we miss them big time. :(

We did have to order 48-72 hours in advance so they could make it. But that was fine. It was worth the wait :D

This is good news, we have a Baskin Robins around here. I will have to give them a call. I miss ice cream cakes.

Thank you.  I’ll be sure to look into those.

I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis and celiac a couple of years ago.  The GI doctor prescribed a course of budesonide, which moderately helped until I tapered off.    After a lot of ups and downs over the course of 2 years, I am finally in microscopic colitis remission.  Since I am also diabetic, I was started on metformin and Jardiance.  Metformin by itself helped moderately.  I added Jardiance and I was much better.  I stopped the metformin and relapsed and when I added it back, I regained remission.  I think metformin and Jardiance helped my colitis because they reduce inflammation in the gut.  Metformin is known to favorably modulate the gut microbiome and reduce...

Hello, @Mrs Wolfe, I crushed three vertebrae moving a chest of drawers.  I take a combination of Thiamine Vitamin B1, Vitamin B12, and Pyridoxine B6.  Together these vitamins have an analgesic effect.  I think it works better than OTC pain relievers.   I also like  "Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus Vitamin B1 B6 B12 Health Supplementary from Japan 120 Tablets" .   It's all three vitamins together in one pill.  Works wonderfully!

It's the Potassium Iodide in the HRT pills that is triggering Dermatitis Herpetiformis and the increased IGG levels.   The thyroid is stimulated by the Potassium Iodide, which stimulates immune cells to make more IGG antibodies.   Thiamine Vitamin B1 helps the thyroid function.  I like Benfotiamine and TTFD Thiamax.
