Rice Cheese?

GlutenFreeManna

I was searching for something else and came across this product: Open Original Shared Link

This is dairy and soy free vegan cheese. Looking at the ingredients it appears to be gluten free. But I wanted to check here and make sure I didn't overlook a suspicious ingredient. What do y'all think?

And if this IS gluten free, has anyone tried it?

I am at a stage where I can handle low-lactose cheese in small amounts (and I enjoy goat cheese too) so I don't know if I would buy this, but it is intriguing. I also thought if there were others avoiding soy and dairy they might want to know about this (if it is gluten free).

I found this on their site here: click on " Are your products gluten free? and Can you tell me more about the natural flavors in your products?"

Are your products gluten free?

Yes, all Galaxy products are gluten free. Our products do not contain wheat, oats or barley.

Can you tell me more about the natural flavors in your products?

The natural flavors are a blend of ingredients that are free of animal products, free of added MSG and free of gluten.

I've had the Galaxy cheese a few times. It is something like cheese I suppose. You won't ever be fooled by it though, (thinking it is real cheese) that's for sure.

It never bothered me digestion wise. Not all their faux cheese are soy free though, so check the ingredients as always.

Thanks Roda! I swear I searched their site and didn't see that info.

I've tried it. I like it on a sandwich with meat. A little bit on nachos with a lot of refried beans and/or taco meat. Or mixed into a casserole. Not on its own. Daiya is also good but comes in shreds. Not slices. Alas both contain pea protein so I can't put them in family meals as daughter is allergic to peas.

Hi Thanks for answering so quickly. Not sure about any other blood tests, all I have is a copy of what my daughter sent to me. Hopefully she’ll get the biopsy soon cos she’s really anxious about the whole thing, but she tends to have a lot of anxiety anyway and has done for a long time

Welcome to the forum, @Heatherisle! Yes, not uncommon for multiple celiac antibody tests to not agree. The Endomysial IGA was the first antibody test developed to detect celiac disease. It is expensive to run and has largely been replaced by the tTG-IGA. But some physicians, particularly those who have been in practice for awhile, still order the EMA. It's a good test. Was there a "total IGA" test run to check for IGA deficiency?

Hi  New to this so bear with me!!! My daughter was told a few years ago she probably had IBS but been feeling generally worse lately Recent IgA TTG Ab blood test indicative of coeliac at 19 U/ml but Endomysial IgA Abs negative. Awaiting appointment for biopsy , so was wondering if anyone else has had these differing results. Thank you

The article was shocking - and horrifying - to read. For me it’s a good argument to cook as many fresh foods as possible. I personally can’t do grain free because I lose weight too quickly and don’t feel full, but I will be sticking to companies I trust like Lundberg for rice.    I live in Germany and thankfully, labeling here is more transparent and more trustworthy than it appears to be in the U.S. these days (where I’m also originally from).  I am so sorry to hear this! May you heal quickly. ❤️

Yes, it is unfortunate that the GFCO seems to have a policy that allows companies that it certifies to lower their guard the longer that they've had their certification. After jumping though the harder GFCO testing requirements for long enough they seem to "rubber stamp" companies and allow them to keep their certification with much less testing going forward. To me this is like having a restaurant where you train the staff one time about how do handle gluten-free foods, and do the training less and less over time, even though you might have high turnover in the industry. People in big food production and supply companies come and go, just like in restaurants, and it's important never to lower your guard.
