Guten Free In Obx?

I've read some old post about gluten free in the outer banks of NC. Anyone have updated info? Somewhere to dine and or to shop gluten-free. Thanks!

For shopping there is a fairly good health food store, directly next to the Outer Banks Bread Company in Kitty Hawk. Farm Fresh has gluten free foods, but not in a specific section. You should be able to find breads, pasta and cereals.

High Cotton, at mile post one, has super ribs, brisket and BBQ chicken and are knowledgeable about gluten free service. Just let them know. Ask for Will Thorp. But, most restaurants have fresh seafood and can cook it to your liking and most are happy to accommodate special requests.

Lone Cedar Restaurant (on the causeway toward Manteo) had the best scallops and a dedicated fryer for fries. Also, they serve the best cold plate I have ever eaten, with fresh seafood. There is an Outback in Nags Head.

Ordering in a restaurant at the beach should not be a problem, but I would suggest you go during non busy times, or call a head, late afternoon and talk to the manager.

I'm going to be visiting Corolla in Sept for a wedding and don't want to lug all my gluten-free food, if I don't have to. Are there places in or near Corolla that serve gluten-free or a grocery store that sells gluten-free?

I don't get up to the northern end of the beach often, but I know there is a large Food Lion Grocery Store in Duck and Corolla. Food Lion has an extensive gluten free section in Duck, Corolla and in Southern Shores. Finding the staples should not be problem.

The beach is at it's best in September and October. Enjoy.
