I'm So Confused Am I Or Am I Not

I had a blood test done to see if I was celiac and it was negative! I'm so confused :( I have always had trouble gaining weight all my life. I have always been constipated and had stomach trouble. Major fatigue, Aching body and especially my neck. I have geographic tongue. I have night sweats and hot flashes here and there and cold flashes. Major mood swings. Major irritability. Major bloating and a very uncomfortable stomach after I eat wheat products. My heart races and sometimes I have trouble breathing.....Does anyone know how accurate the blood tests are? I feel like throwing up as well off and on when I eat wheat. I go off of gluten this all goes away. I have severe anxiety and panic attacks and they go down to barely anything...but they say its negative from the blood test so I'm not sure what to think??? Any ideas??? Cereal makes my stomach go crazy as well as any beer and breads......

The blood tests have a high false negative rate. If you were gluten free or even gluten lite for a while before you had the blood test done it will make the results inaccurate. The best test now is to stop eating gluten. If your symptoms go away when you stop eating gluten then you have your answer. It sounds like you already figured that out, so listen to your body.

There are fairly high rates of false negatives with the blood tests. Were you gluten free or gluten light when the panels were drawn? If you were that could be one reason why but false negatives occur even when folks are eating a full gluten diet.

If you have resolution of your issues gluten free you don't need a doctors permission to be gluten free. There are folks on here that are 'self diagnosed' but if you are going to get any more testing done make sure you stay on gluten until the testing is finished.

My sons blood tests were negative as were mine. He was having so many problems and with our family history of all sorts of illness we opted to not do the endo. instead we tried the gluten-free diet and it is working. He had severe constipation, many different types of rashes, headaches, very strange looking BM's, trouble breathing(rarely) and whined alot. I am so glad his ped Dr. sent him for celiac test or I never would have known about it.

I had a blood test recently which was negative. However, I have known all my life I'm allergic to Wheat Starch & Wheat Gluten. My worst problems have been over the last 12 years & recently got worst. So, I went on nothing but Veggies & Meat for 5 days. Introduced Dairy, Bad IBS the next day. Eat Jerkey not knowing it had some gluten in it, same thing... So, it's my understanding that I dont' have celiac but am Gluten Intolerant. Everything makes sense now. I honestly can care less what a Dr says these days... I'm ashamed that they don't listen or try to help. I don't care what tests show. All I know is what reactions happen when I eat something I shouldn't.

I know how you feel :) Good Luck!

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
