I know it's not an allergy but this was tested along with the immediate and delayed allergies and it was a low positive. Does this really mean anything?

If you eliminate gluten and feel better, yes.

If you eliminate gluten and do not feel better, no.

This assumes that you have received other celiac tests that are negative. If they were positive, then that's a whole different study. Lots of people have slightly positive IgG reactions to gluten. Other GI diseases like Crohn's can also lead to elevated IgG levels to some foods, if I remember correctly.

Personally, I think that elevated levels indicate an inclination toward gluten sensitivity and that some of those people later develop celiac/DH/gluten ataxia. Even if you are fine on a gluten containing diet, you may want to think about going gluten "lite." But no, there isn't much in the way of research on the progress of the disease(s) to support that theory.

I do feel better with gluten gone so I am fairly sure I am gluten sensitive. I did have the blood test done a few years back, told the Doc I had been off of gluten for several months and it came back negative. I have not pursued this further but am back to the thought today. I have symptoms and so does at least one of my kids. I even recall my mother telling me about when she and Dad adopted me when I was 5 and they said I looked like a little white Ethiopian child, all skin and bones with a large tummy and my hair would fall out in handfuls. I was an extremenly picky eater too. So I wonder.

I have eliminated and do feel better so I know I am at least sensitive.

You did the right thing IMHO by eliminating it. I am glad you are feeling better.

I apologize for multiple replies, I made the above post earlier this morning and then I had posted but didn't realize it was delayed in showing up so I thought something went wrong and posted again without all of the above information. Problems with newbies huh? LOL

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
