Colic And Projectile Vomiting

Discovering that I have some kind of gluten sensitivity has caused me to look back over my entire health history and say, "Ohhhhhh, that's what that was!" My mom tells me that I had colic and daily projectile vomiting for months as an infant. Is that a symptom for any of your kids? Did your doctors pick up on it? I was born in 1976 so it seems like my pediatrician would have known to look into celiac disease back then if the colic/vomiting really is a symptom, right?

I have one that I am thinking may have a gluten intolerance. He was very colicy but don't recall if he did much spitting up but he does display a few symptoms. My newest baby is going to be 6 months next week and when I eat gluten she spits up a lot!!!!

My oldest had colic really bad and when I eliminated dairy from my diet he was fine. He also had very bad constipation problems until about 3.5 years old. We were told to give him more apple juice, then mineral oil, on to fleets enemas, a barium enema and then miralax for almost 18 months. My youngest one was colicy and had reflux bad. When I eliminitated dairy for him the colic improved but not the reflux. I also had to eliminate oats, rice and tree nuts because he would either get a bad rash on the top of his head or hives. Funny thing is I was gluten light while breastfeeding him and didn't realize it or know any better, but when I started adding things back in (when he started tolerating them) is when all crap hit the fan for me. I didn't know about celiac until a few years later. Ironically barley cereal was the only one he didn't react to as a baby as far as rashes go. I'm beginning to get suspicious that my boys are developing symptoms of celiac or gluten sensitivity. They both have been complaining of random stomach aches since June with the youngest one complaining the most and they both are getting a lot of cavities. My oldest boy hasn't grown any since Dec. and is small for 9 1/2 years. He is the smallest boy in 4th grade at 52" and appx 58#. He reminds me alot of what my mom said I was like as a baby/toddler with the constant problems with constipation/impaction. I even thought I saw some floating fat the other day when I went in to help my youngest son clean up after using the bathroom.

I was born in 1973 and all the doctors told my mother was to give me prunes! I can remember my parents taking me to the ED when I was about 4 years old. I guess I was in alot of pain and they discovered I had a very bad fecal impaction. I can still remember what they did. :(

Only 1 of my children had projectile vomiting and colic as an infant and that is the 1 that definitely does not have Celiac. Our diagnosed son was almost a perfect baby...but I don't think Celiac was triggered until he started solids quite honestly. Vomiting was never one of his symptoms though even though I hear it is common.

My daughter threw up after I fed her and she cried all the time. This seemed to ease off after I started her on solid food. Not sure why. Her allergies were not diagnosed until she was 6. At the time she was allergic to milk and soy among other things. Things have changed since.

I tried to breast feed her and I did until she was 10 months old. But I wasn't producing much milk at all. Certainly not enough. I had to supplement with formula. And of course it was either milk or soy based.

I was very colicy. I was tested for celiac as an infant because I had the symptoms but it came back negative because the doctors had already taken me off major allergens like milk and wheat. (duh) I got a little rye growing up, but not wheat because I was allergic. I'm sure that's why I'm normal height.

I've always wondered whether other folks around here have milder reactions to rye. It took me quite a while to figure out I was reacting to it on my elimination diet, while wheat gives me an instant stomach ache.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
