I had four egg whites with cheese, peppers and onions for breakfast, shouldn't this be enough to fill me up? I have gained 10 pounds since being diagnosed a little over a year

ago. If I don't eat enough I get really bad headaches. I would like to lose the 10 pounds, but when I try to eat right it's not enough and I end up with a headache. Anyone else have

this problem?

If you eat a low carbohydrate diet, you have to eat more fat, and vegetables and fruit or you will go hungry, simple as that.

When I was doing the SCD years ago, and trying to still be physically more active than most people, I found that out in a hurry.

Suggest you add the egg yolks back in to your omelets. Add a serving of fruit on the side. Add some more vegetables to each meal. Beans, such as rinsed canned beans, are a long lasting vegetable, so is potato or yams, so is canned pumpkin, green beans, snap peas, sauteed cabbage is much sweeter than regular, sauteed chard is good. Broccoli is really good with cinnamon, strangely enough. All vegetables can be quickly sauteed in a little olive oil and then seasoned with vinegar and /or a little sweetener.

You can also make a high protein gluten free bread out of nut/seed meals and have a bit of toast.

I Found out that it's better to be a little plump and more active, rather than starving all the time and lethargic.

not exactly sure what works for you- we're all different. i feel completely satiated on a LOW carb diet- i feel BEST when eating like that- my blood sugar is more leveled, once i add the carbs back in, i get more hungry and tired.

Anyways- i agree with above poster- you have to have fat in your diet- your body needs fat! seriously, GOOD fats-

good fats satisfy you, and actually help you maintain a good weight & good health- if you dont eat enough fat with your meal, you may not even absorb certain nutrients.

And- fix yourself a 2 egg omelette (with the yolks)- not a 4 egg white... there's a lot of IRON & B vitamins in the yolk- the yolks & other fats like butter got a beating in the 80's - and wrongly so.

also- are you giving it enough time?? i, personally need 3-4 DAYS to adjust to a LOW carb diet.... but then i feel great. again, i dont know YOUR BODY- you may be one of those people who feels better with carbs? idk.

Thanks for the advice. I will try adding the yolk back in and see if that helps. We did start adding fresh fruit smoothies in the morning so maybe it will all come together.

I gained 20 lbs the first 18 months. I was hungry all the time and with every glutening, I get hungry again. Don't try to diet yet. Give your body time to absorb all those nutrients it has been missing. I told myself no dieting until the 2 year mark, and as it turned out, my weight plateaued and then started dropping between 18 and 24 months naturally. Eat high nutrient foods, healthy oils and avoid empty calories. Being gluten-free is hard enough without dieting.

And I must say, I'm SOOOO jealous of your eggs and cheese right now! I'm allergic, but the memories...YUM!

      That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

      While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response.
