I bought a Amy's mexican rice bowl and it said no gluten ingredients added but it does not say gluten free. Do you think it is ok to eat?

Sherry,

I would not recommend eating Amy's in any way shape or form. I ate Amy's pre-gluten free with no problems. I ate it after gluten free and had a bad reaction. It gave me a dizzy spell that lasted 6 hours. I've never touched Amy's again.

Yes Amy's does have gluten free meals they are known for their cross contamination. Its not worth the risk. I am not the only one who has reacted to their food.

I've only had a couple of Amy's...a pizza (overpriced and not worth it) and something with tortillas and black beans (yuck!). My tummy hurt after the tortilla thing (and that never happens to me). So for me it's simply not worth it.

I find I'm better off keeping my own home-cooked stashed of leftovers in the freezer for those times I need something quick. So no, I'll never buy Amy's again.

Well I ate it before I read any posts. had it for lunch. oh well I am only 4 days gluten free so maybe it won't mess me up too much. I feel ok right now. but I will not ever buy amy's again. and your right the pizza is over prised. at kroger they wanted 10.00 for a frozen pizza. 10.00? are you kidding me? It's doesn't even look that good.

I think they've gotten a lot better with their production. I eat the mac and cheese and rice crust pizzas all the time without issue. Don't do anything with beans b/c I don't tolerate beans well so I can' t comment on them.

I would not eat anything by Amy's. I tried their pizza one time and had severe hives the rest of the night. Yes, the food may not have wheat in it but I think the cross contamination at Amy's is a huge problem. Maybe they've gotten better but either way, I won't eat anything of Amy's. If you're looking for a good pizza, I love the Glutino brand (and it isn't $10).

We've eaten Amy's products and been okay, but just last night we had their mac and cheese and their rice noodle asian dish. My daughter got really sick on them. It made me think of a few times we've had many foods, Amy's included, and my daughter was sick but we weren't sure what got her. I'm wondering now if it was Amy's then, too :(

However, on their behalf? If you've been glutened, you can call them. If you still have the box, they will transfer you to a gal who will take down the lot number. They save some of each lot, and they'll send it off to be tested for gluten levels and email you the results. I found out you could do this from an old post here, and the poster said they got back to her very quickly, and reported the contamination in one of her foods, so it sounds like they are at least good about being honest about their contamination.

They're testing the two products we had, so I'm curious to see how they test!

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
