Colonoscopy Results

The only thing they came up with was Melenosis which is a discoloration of the lining as a result of laxative abuse. First off, I don't take laxative. Secondly my scope was a week ago and I still havent been able to go. If I took so much laxative to discolor my colon I wouldn't be going so long without going!

grrr.... I am feeling bloated but nothing is happening. I think the bentyl is slowing things down TOO much although I take it with fibre and probiotic.

I gotta get things moving. any advice?

Lower the dose of the bentyl. Ask you doctor for either a lower dose pill or if it's okay, if it is a tablet to cut it in half. Also if you were taking it for D and you are on the diet you maybe healing and now be medicating something you no longer have. That would constipate you.

She made me choose which was worse... the D or the constipation. For me, they were equal so I think that is part of the problem. I am going to stop taking the bentyl all together and see if that helps.

along with the other suggestions :) Thanks guys.

I use Movicol/Miralax. It is what my Dr recommended after a near impaction after a barium swallow. I never want to be that near an impaction ever again!! Constipation is my symptom of a glutening so now have a remedy of starting the Movicol as soon as there is a problem. It takes a few days to work. 2 sachets a day ( for several days) is my glutening remedy to clear a minor blocked/ static bowel. For the near impaction it was 8 sachets a day ( yes 8 ) but only do that with a Dr's advise! I normally do not use it - and just have fibre and fruit normally. And no gluten of course.

What is movicol?

Gorgie, I have been taking miralax every day. It didn't work ove3r a 3 day period so I stopped.

I have been impacted and it's torture. I was pregnant and had severe hyperemesis. I went probably a week without food and little water (kept nothing down what so ever 24/7) when they set me up with home health care. I had a Pic-U with a 3 gallon bag of water and reglan. I gained 6lbs in one week (needed at that time) but of course the pipes were plugged. I wanted to die it hurt so bad. Had to watch what I took due to PG. I feel you sister. I feel you.

Today I said.. Screw this! I am buying a saline laxative. Tonight I am bloated and hurting and gurgling then that tale tell cramping... It's not Constipation, it's D! What the heck? how can I have that if I havent gone in a week? I am so tired of my body right now. I can't (won't) take a bentyl because I need it to move through.

I'm just tired of this. I'm about to just stop taking everything. I'm tired of medications and bowel issues and people eating stuff*I* want to eat. Ok maybe that is not true. I am being a baby. I appologize.. Can't a girl just have a normal poo once in a while I mean really, is that so much to ask!?

Is there a digestive enzyme that helps build a healthier gut? I see people taking them but not sure what really works

So the tTG-IGA at 28 is positive for celiac disease. There are some other medical conditions that can cause elevated tTG-IGA but this is unlikely. There are some people for whom the dairy protein casein can cause this but by far the most likely cause is celiac disease. Especially when your small bowel lining is "scalloped". Your Serum IGA 01 (aka, "total IGA") at 245 mg/dl is within normal range, indicating you are not IGA deficient. But I also think it would be wise to take your doctor's advice about the sucraid diet and avoiding dairy . . . at least until you experience healing and your gut has had a chance to heal, which can take around two years. After that, you can experiment with adding dairy back in and monitor symptoms. By the way, if you want the protein afforded by dairy but need to avoid casein, you can do so with whey protein powder. Whey is the other major protein in dairy.

hi, i want to say thank you to you and @trents   . after 2 phone calls to my GI, her office called me back to tell me that a blood test was “unnecessary” and that we should “follow the gold standard” and since my biopsy did not indicate celiac, to follow the no dairy and sucraid diet. i luckily have expendable income and made an appt for the labcorp blood test that day. i just got my results back and it indicates celiac disease i think 😭   im honestly happy bc now i KNOW and i can go gluten free. and i am SO MAD at this doctor for dismissing me for a simple blood test that wouldn’t have cost her anything !!!!!!!!!!! im sorry, im so emotional right now, i have been sick my whole life and never knew why, i feel so much better already   my results from labcorp:   Celiac Ab tTG TIgA w/Rflx Test Current Result and Flag Previous Result and Date Units Reference Interval t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA 01 28 High U/mL 0-3 Negative 0 - 3 Weak Positive 4 - 10 Positive >10 Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) has been identified as the endomysial antigen. Studies have demonstrated that endomysial IgA antibodies have over 99% specificity for gluten sensitive enteropathy. Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 01 245 mg/dL 87-352

      Thank you this really helped.

Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.
