Hi Everybody!

I would like to tell you what have been happening in my life since I have been positive for SIBO. I was on two antibiotics for 14 days (morning and evening). Durring that time I was going to the bethroom 6-10 times a day. I drank water and I went. Uff! It is much better now, only 3-4 times. Which is great.

About one week later I got glutened or it was reaction to something diferent that I ate (apples). O, My Good! I woke up at 4:00 AM to a unbelievable pain. I tought that somebody is cutting my stomach with nife. I had pain from my ribcage to the "other" end of my body. I wasn't able to move. I was bloathed, but not able to pass gass - sorry for this. I was in pain for two hours. Next day I called my doctor in New York and asked her for the fructose test because I also ate an apple a day before. This Friday I had the test for fructose intolerance which came back possitive - more things that I can't eat. :(:(

I just got back from wisiting my allergologist. She tested me for the wheat, eggs, chicken, soy, corn, fish, tomato. Everything was negative. In August I tested positive for wheat allergy. The reaction was delayed, but it lasted for more than 24 hours.

The result from that is: wheat intolerance. I don't have the imediate reaction to wheat, but I have delayed which will cause digestive issues. I don't know, if I have the real celiac disease yet, but I know that I have wheat intolerance.

I don't have the results from my genetic test at Kimball Genetics yet, I don't know If there is even possibility of having the celiac disease. I shoul get it this week. I will let you know the result.

I still have one issue which nobody knows what it is- feeling of fainting, dizziness, blackouts, palpitations, fatigue, sleapiness. It's 6 months and I have just a very mild improvement. Does anybody know what is wrong?

I will see my regular doctor on Friday. I would like to ask him to check again my iron, vitamin D, and magnesium levels and also pancreas enzymes.

Yeah, I was thinking about magnesium too, when you mentioned palpitations and fatigue etc. Also try to get the test results, different countries measure magnesium levels differently ('normal' in some countries can be 'low' really..)

And it depends how the tests are done too, you probably got info on that already,or you can research it..

There are other vitamins/minerals that could be a problem too.. You might wanna track your nutrition on fitday.com to see approximately what you might be deficient in?

How is your blood pressure like? When I was younger I had fainting and such, my blood pressure was extremely low..

Do you manage to get any exercise? Also what is your air quality like? Any chemical industry near-by? (Or indoor pollution?)

I'm not so sure about apples myself either.. might also depend if you eat them alone or with any grains? (grains+fruit=gases and bloating..)

My magnesium level was 1.7, low ref. range 1.8 - 2.4 on 8/10/2010.

iron was 35 ref. range 35-150

iron saturation 10 low ref. range 11-46

vitamin b12 417 ref. range 200-1100

vitamin D 31 ref. range 30-100

vit D, 25-OH,D2 <4

The tests were done in The USA by Quest Diagnostics. I was born in Slovakia. English isn't my first language. Sometimes I will make spelling mistakes. Sorry for that. Two years ago I didn't even knew how to create a sentence. Look at me now. I'm writing in English with people from other countries. :)

I'm gluten free from May 23. It took me about two weeks to learn all things where I can find gluten. I ingested gluten by accident a few times. I can say that from the first week of June, I didn't ate nothing with gluten in it. From June 15 I'm also milk free. I tested positive for the milk allergy. I was already milk intolerant, but from time to time I had some icecream or cheese. After positive test I'm 100% milk (casein) free.

The pain what I experienced was very bad. That day I ate the coconut yogurt SO Delicious ( only this was something new, I never had it before)and one slice of bread Glutino, home made chicken soup- more like broth for lunch, some fruit between ( I don't remember what - maybe strawberries, blackberies or peach), at 5 PM I had another yogurt (It was very tasty. I didn't have yogurt for about 9 months. A very long time). For dinner at 6:30PM I had potatoes, chicken breast from soup and cucumber salat. For snack about 9:00 PM one big apple. When I ate my dinner I had some milder bloathing and pain in stomach. After dinner I had pain, level 8 from 0-10 points. I took one Gas-X. It helped, but I ate apple to "help me" digest the food. I was wrong!!!! My bloathing came back, and before I went to sleap I took another Gas-X. Then at 4:00 AM I woke up on pain level 11 from scale 0-10. :o:(:o:unsure:

It was apple or yogurt? I don't know, but something didn't agree with my stomach.

The carageen(sp?) in that yogurt is known to cause abdominal distress. I found out the hard way as well. I hope you feel better soon.

BTW, work on getting your vitamin D up. I also was recently tested by Quest and came in at the range of 44. My doctor just called me about an hour ago and said she likes to see it between 50-100 for optimal health, despite that 44 is still considered in range. She told me to take 5,000 IUs per day.

Wow! My doctor told me to take only 1000 UI a day. It looks like it's to low, if I'm taking into consideration my level of the vitamin D.

In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.

@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.

Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
