I pretty much eat the same foods over and over with a few exceptions. I recently added a few things to my diet that I have not had in 6 months or more. Has anyone been glutened by any of these items? I am at a loss as to what got me and which I should throw out.

Plain Organic coffee with coffeemate creamer I bought a new coffeemaker as well.

Edy's French Vanilla Ice Cream

Hershey's Kisses

Dairy is not a problem as I drink milk and eat cheese etc.

I just read the other 2 posts from today about the Kisses. I suspect that those are the culprit. Into the trash they go. You know, this is not the first time that Hershey's has made me sick. Back to Enjoy Life Chocolate bars at least they are made in a dedicated factory on dedicated lines.

If you can handle dairy, stick with regular 1/2 and 1/2 or milk for your coffee.

I run from coffee creamer and Hershey's chocolate. From everything I've read, I think they both are risky.

And it never seems to matter if they're marked gluten-free or not, I ALWAYS have issues after eating potato chips. IDK if it's a grease/fat thing or what, but my innerds just can't handle them.

I had a date tonight, first meeting of a very nice man... We went to Perkins where I had previewed the menu and found something that looked to be gluten free. Swiss and mushroom chicken on a bed of herbed rice with two sides.. I picked two veggies. Ok we're in business right? WRONG.

My dinner came out with a big ol roll on top of my asparagus so I asked the waitress for another small plate so I could remove the asparagus from my plate. (I had told her about the gluten thing before I ordered and she assured me there wasn't any in this dish haha) She was upset that I wasted the asparagus.. Excuse me? Secondly, I'm talking with my new friend and not really paying attention to my 'herbed rice' and he noticed (he has a friend with Celiac) that what I was eating wasn't just rice, there was orzo pasta in it... Grrrrrrrrr

This is my first time being glutened and I feel like crap. I feel like I have the flu and it's only been an hour since we were at the restaurant. So much for a nice first date huh? But he was very good about it and didn't bat an eye and even asked me if I'd like to see him again so it wasn't all bad... he is a nice guy! Twinkle in her eye as she sits close to the bathroom!

He said next time we'll go to the Mexican place I love...

I have never had a problem with Hershey's kisses - eat them all the time. But I do get sick from Lay's Stax, so I think that could be the culprit.

Everything I've read (and the coffeemate reps) say that coffeemate is gluten free, but I got sick off their Honey Vanilla Creme twice. Haven't had a problem with their sugar free versions & I'm too scared to try their sugary ones again. I don't think anyone else has a problem with them though.

Sometimes it's a crap shoot as to what glutened us.

Today I had real cream with my coffee.

Going to skip the Stax

Threw the ice cream and kisses out.

I def. don't need the candy and I am getting a new ice cream maker for Christmas so problem solved. It just gets annoying feeling bad and not knowing exactly what zapped us.

Judy3, I'm sorry you got sick on your date. Good thing that you were not going to a movie or something after! He sounds like a keeper since he was so understanding. Hope you feel better soon!

That's what I was thinking too, soy. Coffee Mate has soy in it. I am not sure about the Hershey's Kisses, but most chocolate has soy in it. The Coffee Mate site says it is gluten free.

Yes, for me it does. I am still healing (3 months) and the only thing I kept using was coffee mate. I love the stuff. But after feeling so sick....I realized it is the soy. Every single time. I now use half n half or real cream. I think that solved the problem...until I start getting sick from the dairy! Good luck. I am right there with you on this..learning what makes me ill.

Soy can cause GI symptoms, along with a whole bunch of other possible symptoms too. Different people can have different reactions to it.

Me too. In fact my reaction to soy is stronger and worse than my reaction to gluten. I also tend to puff up like a puffer fish.

Not only does soy give me a little bit of gi reactions but I get depression and anxiety worse.

      Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have.It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

      @Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

      Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

      Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!
