Heartland Gluten Free Pasta

I found a new gluten free pasta at Walmart over the weekend and have tried it twice. It is absolutely delicious. It is called Heartland Gluten Free. It is a corn and rice blend and tastes exactly like regular pasta. My DH tasted it and even proclaimed he could not tell the difference. He is not on a gluten free diet.

The 12 oz package is 2.00. At our local Walmart in Murphy Texas they had 2 different pasta styles. Spaghetti and Fusilli. I bought the Fusilli. For the first meal I made spaghetti sauce with gluten-free Prego traditional sauce, and some spices. My DH used Skinner spaghetti and I used half the bag of Heatland. It was perfect. The pasta did take a little longer to cook than is indicated on the package. I'm a child of the 50s and grew up with soft pasta. The sauce nestled in all the little grooves and tasted great.

The next time I used it, I sauteed some sliced mushrooms in dairy free margarine and tossed them into the pasta with some steamed shrimp and a splash of gluten-free sweet chili sauce. Yummy!

This is the best pasta I have tasted. I was buying the Ancient Harvest quinoa pasta and this is so much better. The color, the taste, the "bite", the after flavor - everything is great.

I did try to locate this pasta at Sprouts, Albertsons, Tom Thumb, Target but it is only being sold at Walmart for now. At 2.00 a package it is the best deal around.

That's my favorite gluten-free pasta too. The only thing I don't like about it is how fast it gets cold.

Our Walmart keeps it in the regular pasta section

I've also bought it and like it. My Wal-Mart has 3 different kinds available...in addition to spaghetti and fusilli, they also have penne.

Does anyone have a problem with this particular spaghetti sticking together while it's cooking? I used to cook regular spaghetti with no problems but I seem to spend a lot of time separating Heartland spaghetti while I'm cooking it.

Thanks for the reviews. I haven't tried this kind yet but I have seen it for 1.98 at Walmart. My Walmart doesn't have a gluten-free section, everything is just mixed in with the regular stuff.

      I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.
