3 months ago, i started the gluten free journey, under my Dr.s care. i have suffered from hot flashes also for about a year( pretty intense ones) 5 weeks ago started on low dose birth control, to help with the hot flashes. it is working well, i can't even complain about the 5 lbs. i gained, since i lost 12 during my really sick/gluten time. however, i am constipated, from the hormones, so I'm wondering might the hot flashes be less sever, now that I'm eating the proper diet,i would love to go off them. i have not tried to take any over the counter fiber, since going gluten free, I'm not sure if any of them are safe. thanks so much, for any feedback

May I ask how old you are? Are you menopausal? Gluten free never made any difference in my hot flashes and I am the queen of severe flashing! :P However, I went through menopause 1 year before diagnosis and am at the age for flashes so gluten free most likely would have zero effect on them....it's all absence of hormones which controls that.

I was put into an early menapause by celiac complete with awful hot flashes, for me the diet resulted in a great lessening of them. Everyone is different so I can't say whether the diet will or will not help yours.

I think it was on the news just recently that women that are blessed with hot flashes have much Less chance (50% or something close) of having breast cancer.

Before I was diagnosed at age 42, I had awful, awful hot flashes. My doc wanted to put me on estrogen. I read the warning labels and decided against it. Then I found out I have Celiac, went gluten free and never had another hot flash. I don't think I am menopausal, but was having the flashes because of gluten. Now I am 44 and still nice and cool. So, I supposed it is reasonable to think it could happen, if you're not full on into menopause. I've read that lots of Celiac women go into early menopause if they still eat gluten. Couldn't hurt to try, right?

I began EARLY-menopause at age 35 and it lasted for ten years +. Hot flashes were the last symptoms to develop and last to leave. (but I still throw the covers off in the middle of the night, at 56).

I was diagnosed at 50.

Early in my 50's, any dairy or wine sulfates would result in wild hot flashes, to the point where I had to leave the room, if able. It went away. :)

Whenever I've been glutened, the most prominant sign is hot flashes and profuse sweating at night. I'm in my early 30s so its definitely not menopausal hot flashes! I also recently had to stop taking birth control because I realized it was causing constipation.

REALLY!?!?! You mean there is some good news in regards to my daily incinerating flashes?

Red wine also causes me to flash bad but I'll be damned if I am going to give that up. I have already given up everything else!

I saw that article and with good news always comes some bad. Daily hot flashes seem to decrease the chance of breast cancer but increase the chance of heart problems. :(

Red wine and chocolate do that to me too. I gave up the wine but I'll be darned if I will give up my chocolate.

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
