I don't understand something...One of my symptoms is water retention in my thighs and stomach. When I first when gluten/egg/dairy free, I lost all the water (boy that was heaven!). Then, all of a sudden, it's back. I noticed this happening a couple of times.I eat the same things as I did during the "no water" period, so why would it come back?

Has anybody ever had symptoms come and go for no apparant reason?

you didnt change anything else to your diet??? i have digestion problems with excess fructose- so if i eat a pear- i will swell & bloat up and have pain, etc...

also, when i finally got dx with hypothyroid- and got on meds- i de-swelled big time

Yes.

I assume it's some sort of reaction to something else, as it's not a glutening but I will puff up sometimes when I eat commercially baked gluten free goods - I thought i was tapioca but it's not, or it's random- could be xanthan gum, maybe, in my case. And if I exercise it goes down.

Can you pinpoint what you are eating that has this effect? Are you having any other glutened issues? Some of us do become more sensitive to CC after we have healed a bit so a food diary might be helpful in pinpointing what the cause is.

All gluten free products do that to me, but soy does it to me also. So it could be either one or both.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
