I'm Giving Up Soy!

So, last week I had two pain free days!!! It was amazing to finally feel human! I stopped to think WHAT did I do differently??! All I could come up with is I didn't use my lip balm (Burts Bees) and a different eye pencil those days. My food had not changed. I stopped using both and I've had some good days. The balm has soy in it and some products I was eating (not often) included soy. I stopped all soy and my bloating is better everyday. The bloat got better after giving up corn, but not totally gone.

I'm kinda sad to see this go as well, but I am so happy to be free of pain! I have been in some type of pain everyday for 18 months, I feel like I have finally figured it all out!...for now ;)

Ladies that are soy free, any suggestions on replacing my lip balm and glosses. My new pretty pink lipgloss has vitamin E derived from soy. Thanks!

Check out Gluten Free Savonnerie's stuff. I got their shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, bar soap, lotion and lip balm. It's corn free, soy free, gluten free, dairy free.....among others. I will warn you that the lip balm is very bland and I don't quite care for the "taste" but I prefer it to being sick!

Welcome to the soy free club. Really, it's for the best. Soy is baaaaaad for you. :) And in my opinion way easier to cut out than corn. >rolls eyes<

By the way, mayonnaise is way easy to make with a blender (I couldn't find a mayo without soy in it) and I honestly can't think of anything else that I "miss" that has soy.

Congratulations on finding a solution! I'm happy for you that you're feeling better :)

Soy is nasty stuff. Glad you figured it out. :)

Yeah I soon realised my favourite lip balm from MAC has soy and traces of gluten in it and it was making me so ill! Within hours, I thought it was kinda a myth about make up and stuff but obviously not!

Thanks! I feel like I should have tried this sooner!

Yeah, if gluten is the root of all evil, soy is pretty hot on its heels!!!

Are you okay? This sounds like an allergic reaction. Have you taken any Benedryl or called the doctor??? Let us know what happens.

There is stock and stock cubes out there that are gluten and soy free. Pacific Brands is one brand. Or you can make your own and freeze it (you can make it strong and put it in the ice cube tray) :D

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.
